We might never actually thought about it or maybe you do, whichever the case we got to love the ‘English language’. The richness in their similes, metaphors, paradox etc. Such as having no ham in the ‘hamburger’ or how the guinea pig has nothing to do with a pig family. Neither has it to do with anything of the West African country, Guinea. With the paradox in mind, one cannot help but notice yet another one, the question itself, ‘fashion style’.
We often make the mistake of associating them together or as being the same. Such as calling a ‘fashionista’ a stylish person which etymologically and adjectively isn’t correct. Because they are two separate traits or habits. Fashion is a passing trend followed, while style is owned. You do not have to be fashionistic to be stylish. Moreover, the question is ‘directed’ so there possibly cannot be a destined answer given the many types of fashion. Fashion is a huge subject to be covered. As absurd as this can sound, individuality has been associated with fashion for a long, long time. The reason is because fashion gives us a tangible show to permeate a part of us. Infact associating different types of fashion with different characters cannot be all wrong. In the 1960’s, a type of fashion rose at its peak, ‘the boho or bohemian’. They propagated anti-war message through their fashion and music. Strong anti-war individuals saw this as an opportunity to express their concern. Hence, their feeling of empathy became enchained with the boho style.
FASHION IS RICH
In a similar fashion, the early 80’s saw the rise of the grunge fashion which continued till the 1990’s. Given the strong anti-establishments many came to associate it as a ‘movement’. A movement reaching its pivotal by musicians such as Kurt Cobain. This fashion became the melting pot for youngsters to pour out their angst and frustration. Every individual somehow associates types of fashion with themselves because in the particular fashion do they see a medium of expression.
Hence, when we see an individual in chic fashion we somehow associate it with class. Or for person with sporty fashion as being huge fan of physical activity or caring less of how they appear. Refuting ‘you are what you wear’ hence don’t easy although it can be. The most explicable example for such is associating the ‘gothic fashion’ to that of the dark side. When in reality their emotional, spiritual well-being has nothing to do with what they wear.
A person can dress up chic or classy and have strong anti-establishment values. Or a person with a taste of gothic might be the most fervent church-goer. Let us hence not make the mistake of fully associating any particular types of fashion with individualism itself. Rather look at fashion at the richness of the different types of fashion. How different light has been associated to it. Fashion is huge, it is a field it is interesting, grab the choices or the different types of fashion to give yourself a new look.
It can be as interesting and exciting as a high school teenager getting her friends to fill out her scrap book knowing there will be lots of different stories behind it. So if you are an avid fashion love
