Some years ago I replied online to two comments on positive thinking. I came across these comments quite by accident while reading some thing else, and I was amazed that so many people have so little understanding of how the mind works even with, or perhaps because of the reams of information ‘out there’.
Following my reply to these comments in 2008 I typed the words ‘Positive thinking’, just as an experiment into a Google search and was shown the results for those two words as totaling 10.5 million listings on Google. That is a staggering number of results for one obviously very popular subject, and yet one which I find still very misunderstood. Today a search of the same words totaled some 12.5 million listings, again on Google.
I will incorporate some of the two comments in question into this discussion to allow you to understand why I responded to them, one of them included the comments as follows:
‘If only it were a case of ‘Positive Thinking”. It has not made me any better. It has helped me to have hope consciously. I hope one day my sub-conscious will charge with hope. I just know I need to say positive things, especially when I am feeling totally crippled by life and crying my heart out, and wondering how long I can hold on for.
If you were a fly on the wall, I must look strange bawling my eyes out and saying out loud over and over positive affirmations.'
'Somehow they eventually quieten me down’.
And the reply by another ‘caring’ person.
Cellular memory is a fascinating subject. That our thoughts can affect our bodies right down to the cellular level is a phenomenal discovery. The really wonderful thing is that we can change our cells and thus our bodies by changing our thoughts.
When we are plagued with negative thoughts it is easy to give in to the idea that we will never be able to change the way we are, the way we think. Nothing could be further from the truth. Repeated affirmations train the subconscious mind to think new thoughts. If the affirmations are positive the new thought habits will be positive too. And over time our cells become positive - ie healthy! :)
Now a section of my response to these comments was as follows;
‘Unfortunately [Name] positive thoughts only have an impact on our sub conscious mind not on our cellular memory, and it can be the inherited and genetic ancestral patterns which contribute to our beliefs and behaviors as well as our genetic make up. We are made up on a cellular level at conception of 1/2 0f our cellular memory from our parents, 1/2 of the remaining 1/2 from our grandparents, 1/2 of the remaining 1/2 from our great grandparents and so on down the family line, so an aggregate total stretching into infinity of 2, 4, 8, 16, 32,64 ,128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, 8192 and so on, and that is only 13 generations.
Now all you need is for Grandma for example to hope that your parents do not have a baby right now and you can have rejection from conception. Or Mum and Dad being worried about you at your conception ie will they make good parents, and Voila, you have anxiety from conception in every cell of your body. And as the cells reproduce themselves they do so with all of the memories that they have carried from that genetic ancestral line from your conception.
Now if you have the misfortune to be born as a boy when Mum and Dad wanted a girl, you can tie even more rejection into the mix . Then add in the trauma of birth, one of the worst trauma’s you will every experience, and the genetic mix starts to look very interesting.
Please note we haven’t even touched on 'Chakra' memory, or the sum total of every life we have ever lived or if you wish every inca
ation on this or any other planet or dimension, and it is a wonder that there are as many ‘normal’ people as we presume there to be’.
Having trained in a number of areas over the years including Hypnosis, Kinesiology, Regression therapy and a number of other areas as well as my own work with genetic ancestral cellular memory, I have had numerous occasions to observe and also teach people to correct their thought patterns, as well as to facilitate the removal of the blockages which can be present from our genetic ancestral line.
A simple explanation of the power of positive thinking can be seen as follows;
Basically we have three individual areas of the ‘mind’, the conscious, sub conscious, and the higher conscious or as some people refer to it as the ‘soul’.
The conscious mind is the one which is full of chatter, it has millions of impressions pass through it on a daily basis and it sifts through these as you focus on one thing or another.
The sub conscious mind only knows what you tell it, basically I explained it to my children as garbage in / garbage out. If you sit a garbage bin in the corner and fill it with garbage, then put the lid on and leave it for six months. After six months when you come back and take the lid off the garbage bin the same garbage will be sitting there, exactly as you left it. The sub conscious mind faithfully stores everything that you tell it, and just as faithfully feeds it right back to you when you ask for the information you have given it.
When you use affirmations and positive thinking you are telling the sub conscious what you want it to hear or believe, however there are two areas to be aware of. One of these is the specific words you use when you speak to yourself, as some words are not recognized by the sub conscious mind. For example the word ‘DON’T’ how often has a child been told ‘don’t slam the door’ and not hearing or recognizing the ‘don’t’, slams the door 'just as they have been told or instructed' with the ‘slam the door’ instruction.
If we add into the equation the memories stored within our cells from our ancestors, the whole picture often becomes a quagmire. We are giving ourselves a positive thought or message as instructed, for example ‘I am a wealthy woman’ often many more times than the three times our subconscious mind needs to hear it, however deep within our ancestral patterning Great Grandma may have had a strong thought form that all women are useless and that the women in the family will always be poor.
Now can this subconscious programming override the thought form? Indeed it can, the woman may well become wealthy however, for one reason or another she is liable to ‘lose’ that wealth because the cellular programming of lack and unworthiness has never been identified and removed.
So we can ask just how successful is sub conscious ‘reprogramming’? Kinesiology a specific form of muscle testing allows us to ask questions of a person, and event, or a situation to name just a few.
If we pose the question kinesiologically then of based on 100%, ‘what percentage of positive thinking has a positive and ongoing beneficial effect on the ‘average’ person using such positive thinking’. We have an answer of 5 % of that 100% - and really these are not very good odds at all are they? Yet millions of books have been sold and programs followed to instruct people into Positive thinking.
For many people Positive thinking is great - but it will only take you so far. I will cover this subject in more depth and detail later on and from a different perspective based on the levels of Communication and Understanding, but for the moment I will leave you with a poem which I was given many years ago and which I believe explains the sub conscious mind rather nicely.
I am very accommodating
By Margaret White
I ask no questions
I accept whatever you give me
I do whatever I am told
I do not presume to change anything you think, say or do; I file it away in perfect order, quickly and efficiently, and then I return it to you exactly as you gave it to me.
I am the reservoir into which you toss anything your heart or mind chooses to deposit there.
I work night and day; I never rest, and nothing can impede my activity
The thoughts you send me are categorised and filed, and my filing system never fails.
I am truly your servant who does your bidding without hesitation or criticism
I co-operate when you tell me that you are “this” or “that” and I play it back as you give it.
I am most agreeable.
Since I do not think, argue, judge, analyse, question, or make decisions, I accept impressions easily.
I am going to ask you to sort out what you send me, however, my files are getting a little cluttered and confused
I mean, please disregard these things that you do not want returned to you.
What is my name? Oh I thought you knew!
I am your subconscious mind.
** Many thanks to Margaret White for this poem which says it all very nicely, and to the long forgotten person who shared it with me.

Breast Health Awareness
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year the media and proponents of ‘fighting against Breast Cancer’ beat the drums that focus on what one wants to avoid instead of focusing on what one wants to create – Healthy Breasts.
