• “What So Great About an Affirmation?” • My Law/Psych professor asked and answered his own Question. • “First, it creates an attitude, mood, & belief because it is not just words, but a statement aligned with feelings of awe. • Second, it connects in our brain with the Perisylvian Cortex, PreFrontal Cortex, and the Limbic System. That’srnboth the left and right brain, reason & analysis, together with emotion & feelings. • Third, if you repeat the Affirmation as little as three (3) times daily, for three-days, it programs your mind like ar
Computer, with motivation for specific Positive Behaviors. • I called out: “Sir, define it because the law hates “glittering-generalities, and loves “specificity”.
• “It’s Agreement & Approval. <Latin: to strengthen, fixed.
An Example will burn it in your brain for life.
In the Courtroom, witnesses swear “I will tell the truth, the whole truth, & nothing but the truth, so help me God.” That’s an affirmation.” • “The Pledge-of-Allegiance” is an affirmation”, I offered. • “Here are three (3) Affirmations that will improve your life. • First, “The more your learn, the more you Earn.” • Second, “The more you Teach others, the more You Learn.” • Third, “The more you Smile, the more you Earn.” • The entire class uttered a chorus of, “Huh?” Nobody saw a link between “Smiling” and “abundance, affluence, opulence, and prosperity.” • “Smiling” is activating more than the 17 muscles of your face. Remember these Big-Three facial muscles. • 1. Risorius muscles: (raises the sides of your lips). • 2. Orbicularis-Oculi: makes crow’s feet at sides of your eyes.
• 3. Zygpmaticus-Major: raises the sides of your cheeks. • “Sir, I offered, “So what? Who cares?, Where’s the Relevance?” • “Do a “mind experiment”. Intentionally “Smile” now showing your Teeth, and squinting your Eyes. The operative word is “Intentional”. Please activate your
“Willpower”, and don’t wait for something to “amuse” you.” • The Professor had taught us that our “Willpower” was located two-inches above our left eyebrow. We did it.
• Marston, an “A+” student spoke. “You cannot feel Lousy,
Frustrated or Angry, when you “Intentionally” Smile.”
• Here’s the “Take-away!” Negativity is dissipated by Smiling. What else? Smiling is “contagious”, and doubles
your negotiating power. Smiling intentionally grants you the ability to Convince, Influence, & Persuade Judges, Juries & opposing Counsel. Is that Relevant?” • I jumped up. “And Smiling activates your Peripheral Vision for tripling your Speed Reading. It’s an “Unique
Competitive Advantage” to read and remember three (3) books, articles & reports, in print & online, while others can hardly finish or remember – one.”
That’s it. What’s your “take-away”? Can you Smile intentionally for 17-seconds? It will improve your Career.
And solidify your personal relationships in School & Career.
See ya,
