A dentist may be one of the people who needs social privacy the most. This is because the nature of the job of dentistry requires them to be as private as possible. There are many people who need operations who do not want their operations revealed to their friends and family. This is because the situations may be very embarrassing. Therefore, a dentist must keep their client and patient relationship close to their chest and keep their information as private as possible on the social networks.
Everyone needs to advertise on the social networks. This is a given, and there are not a lot of people who can dispute this fact. However, advertising on the social networks can be dangerous because the use of the social networks could reveal things or things about their patients in the practice. If these things are revealed, then the business could lose money or the dentist could be sued for malpractice.
The other truth about dentists is that they are very proud of their work and they love to show off case studies of clients they have worked on in the past. The social media systems are a very good place to show this information off on; however, if the dentist has not done their homework and procured the right paperwork then they could get in trouble. This means that they have not required the right release forms that allow them to use the photos for marketing purposes. They may not be able to use the photos at all because they never asked that person for permission.
Therefore, the dentist needs to think about how to properly manage their own privacy and the privacy of their clients as well. A person who can do both is in good position because most dentists are far too busy to worry about social media and social media systems. Most dentists avoid the social media systems because they do not understand the systems and they do not have the time needed to learn the systems.
A dentist may also have some patients that are upset with him or her. This is true of every practice and it is not limited to dentists, however, the smile of a person is something that people cannot help but to notice. Therefore, people who have had a bad experience at a dental office may be more dangerous than others. A dentist should keep protecting themselves by managing their business and person social media profiles appropriately.
A dentist with a personal social media program should seek to distance themselves as far as away from their own practice as possible. This is because the business already has a business social media account. Even though the dentist is proud of his or her accomplishments, they should use their social media profile with privacy and try to distance themselves from the business because of the fact that the business will make enemies. Those enemies should not know where a dentist goes or where they live, all of this is very dangerous.
Finally, it is a very bad situation for a dentist if they lose their identity to a thief. Not only does a person have their reputation to deal with on the social media systems, but they also have money. This means that the social media user who is a dentist has to be careful on two fronts. Those that would seek to injure the doctor online could use either situation very easily. Hurting the reputation of a dentist hurts their business and their check book. Stealing their identity hurts their check book. Either way, the dentist must be careful to use their social network profile with the utmost privacy in mind.
A dentist needs to manage his or her profile as privately as possible because of all of these factors. A dentist is a very good target for social bullying or attacks because the dentist has money and their livelihood depends on their reputation. Therefore, a dentist needs to manage both their personal and business social profiles with care.
