Why a Wedding Photographer is Worth Every Penny

For most people their wedding is one of the most important days of their lives. Documenting that day is the second most important aspect of that wedding, and who/how you choose to do that is the third most important aspect. Some document their weddings with both cameras and video tapes, while some choose one or the other. There are so many important decisions to make when it comes to this day, and it usually only happens once so everything needs to be very well thought out.

Photographs, Videos or Both?

The first thing to think about is whether or not you want stills of your wedding, any video to watch back, or both. Pictures are generally considered the most fun because not only are they easily stored but you can create fun wedding themed scrapbooks with them to remember your special day. Videos are just as good, if not better, because instead of seeing only still photos you can relive your special day on screen over and over again. The thing to think about before choosing either of these options though is pricing. Some people are only photographers and some are only videographers, not often are they both. If you want both you would either have to pay for two different people to do the work, choose just one option, or find someone who does both. Putting aside the videographer, having someone snapping photos throughout your big day is super important. You definitely need to go with somebody who has been a professional photographer for at least a few years, this way you can ensure that your pictures come out perfect for that special day. You do not want to hire somebody who has not been taking pictures long, and preferably won’t want your wedding to be their first shoot.

Why a Professional Photographer?

Pictures are so important to have, to save, and be able to look back on and commemorate any special. You and your spouse will want to be want to be able to sit back and watch this day unfold, but not behind the camera. If you don't hire a professional, you will be tasked with either enjoying your day as normal and not having any memories to look back on, or being stuck behind a camera throughout your whole wedding. Also, you don't want to employ a family member unless they insist, because you want them to be able to enjoy your big day as well.

Be Cautious!

There are a lot of people out there who claim to be photographers, but photography is an art form, not just a point-and-click scenario. You need to make sure that you diligently do your research before hiring a photographer. They should have a professional portfolio, and reviews from past clients who have worked with them before. If they do not have these things it is a huge red flag!
