BCA (Bachelor in Computer Applications) and B.Tech (Bachelor in Technology) both the scholar courses offer specialization in IT, but they differ in course duration, eligibility, curriculum, and fee. Also, there is a difference in job prospects after the completion of these two degrees. BCA
Bachelor in Computer Applications is a three-year undergraduate degree in computer applications. Almost every university in India offers a BCA degree. It includes subjects such as Networking, Data structure, Database Management, Advanced C language programming, Software Engineering, Oracle, Java, etc.
The way for taking admission into the BCA program is to you should have passed 10+2 from a recognized board with a minimum of 45-50 percent marks. There is no entrance exam and admissions are generally based on 10+2 marks.
After completing BCA you can follow an MCA degree to improve your future job prospects. BCA graduates can also go for an MBA degree with help of which they can join an IT company at an administrative position. Several IT companies including MNCs hire BCA graduates to fill positions of programmers, database managers, Web Designers, etc.
B.Tech
It is a 4 year degree that targets to improve academic as well as applied knowledge of students in their selected engineering subjects. Students can choose any of the branches for doing a B.Tech degree such as- Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Electronics etc. Those interested in pursuing a career in IT can go for B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. The entitlement criteria for taking admission in B.Tech, you should have passed 10+2 with 50-60% marks from a recognized board with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Maths) as compulsory subjects. You will also have to clear an engineering entrance test.
After the completion of your B.Tech degree you can go for an M.Tech degree or progress your IT expertise. You can also go for an MBA degree to expand your career scope.
BCA vs B.Tech
1-Both are very widespread courses in India. BCA focuses on more applied know-hows and applications used in daily life whereas, B.Tech focuses on emerging new technologies, perceptions and mathematical expertise.
2-B.Tech is more about emerging concepts and testing them, on the other hand, BCA is the study of placing these concepts to use.
