Why Quit Smoking Methods Are Doomed To Fail

Quit smoking methods all perform, of course, to some extent, or they wouldn't be in the marketplace at all. Wouldn't it be wonderful, having said that, if there was finally one particular quit smoking method which actually addressed the real reasons smokers, combined with the methods they attempt, fail. In plain english it is high time there was a way that succeeds. To better grasp the problem of why nearly all quit smoking solutions and techniques don't work we need to appreciate a lttle bit about the mindset of the hapless cigarette smoker who's nothing more nor less than a legalised substance abuser. They hate the thought of smoking until finally they die, (probably horribly), but paradoxically can't abide the idea of never smoking again. They are proverbially "damned if they do and damned if they don't." Let's quickly go through the main contenders, shall we? Cold turkey. Most smokers will not even contemplate this as a way of stopping smoking. It's too scary. It demands not only bravery but willpower in spades. And research indicates that fewer than 7% of smokers achieve success using this method in the long term. Not good. Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). This currently can be purchased in many kinds from gum to nasal sprays, patches, lozenges and inhalers. The trouble? That you are still taking nicotine and so the habit itself is not dealt with. Only the delivery system changes, (and yes, there's no tar). Once again, research has reported that 93% of people who smoke go back to full time smoking within just 6 months of using NRT. Yet another 7% rate of success then. You might as well keep your money. Hypnosis. It's difficult to discover accurate data about the success rate of this quit smoking method because many of the reports seem to be authored by hypnotherapists. In addition to that, there exists no consistent method of doing hypnosis for smokers, so comparisons are challenging to say the least. But here is the problem: generally, smokers go to hypnotherapists seeking to "fall under a kind of magic spell" (i.e. to be rendered into a semi-comatose state that they don't expect to recall) and wake up to find the urge to smoke vanished. This is nonsense because hypnotic trance is a completely awake, though peaceful, condition. Both hypnotherapist and client are as a result starting off on the wrong foot with naturally disastrous outcomes. In all cases, these kinds of methods deal with the smoking and not the smoker. All of them assume that the smoker is a helpless victim deficient in the self-discipline required to help themselves. The truth is completely different. For a start, willpower is not needed to quit smoking! You will only need willpower if you are having an inner fight with yourself, (e.g.: "I wish I could but I mustn't"), just like going on a diet. But ask a vegetarian if they would eat a good succulent steak for supper and they don't utilize willpower to tactfully and easily decline. The utilization of willpower to try to overcome an emotional urge is useless and strenuous - and practically always bound to go wrong. One more conce is the withdrawal from nicotine which smokers dread. The reality is that nicotine withdrawal is extremely fast and pain-free in comparison with nearly all other habit forming chemical substances; it is the FEAR of the withdrawal that is the smoker's problem. Quit smoking methods do not need to be this way.

We hear a lot about the steps we should take to achieve our goals, however unless we take the first steps to realistically consider who and what we are right now – our capabilities and interests – and think logically about what we’d like to accomplish, our chances of achieving our “goal” are slim to none. Here are a few things to think about when you’re trying to decide what you’d like to do. 1. Your goals need to be your goals Not your spouse’s or significant other’s, not your friends’, parents’, children’s, etc. - YOURS! 2.

Being a mom who loves to celebrate Valentine's Day with her children just as much as she does with her husband, I am always on the look out for something fun, different, and inexpensive that I can do for the kids. Last year, our grocery store was selling cute candy bouquets, but the price tag was a hefty $30 for a maximum of $10 worth of supplies. After taking a couple of inconspicuous pictures, I began searching through the store for the same items that they had used to make their bouquets.
