Do You Use Repetition in Your Life?

When I asked this question of our staff and students, they answer
with their own ‘defensive’ response, “Why should I?”

My answer to them and you is, your parents were right.

“About what?”

“Repetition is the mother of “learning”. I know a ton of learningrnand memory strategies, but “repetition” of important ideas you
need to remember, beats them all.

The problem doing “repetition” is the time. It takes 21rnconsecutive days to create a habit, and reprogram your brain.

Have you ever learned something, (put it into memory),
but say a month later tried to recall this series of connected ideas?
It had disappeared.

Me too. The reason the memory was Missing-in-Action was it never
went into long-term memory. You used short-cuts and never retested rnyourself a week, two-weeks or a month later.

Stop! That’s the secret, you must retest yourself three-times over
the next four-weeks – for new knowledge to sink in – permanently.

One-more-once: to create a habit (auto-pilot) we must repeat the rnmaterial for a few minutes for 21 consecutive days. It’s called ther
Law of Repetition.

Habit occurs at a subconscious level, which requires new wiring
and programming. Humans do NOT want to change. We have 100rnreasons why not to make the effort of repetition. Example:

“I lived a lot of years without knowing the ‘Eight Laws of Mind
and Thought That Effect Change’, so I’ll do without all that work.”

Last point, Repetition is the only sure way of making permanent
“change” in your left-hemisphere, the location of language, speech,
and linear reasoning. “Use-it-or-Lose-it!” is a scientific reality.

Did you know repetition is from Latin, meaning repeat.

1. I like to add important knowledge to your life. For instance,
did you know toilet paper (for real!) was invented in China inrnthe 6th Century A.D.?

2. OK, you do know that there are four (4) suits in a deck playingr
Texas Hold’em Poker, but how many denominations are there?

Answer: thirteen (13). That means there are 13 denominations
times four suits Clubs-Hearts-Diamonds-Spades, or 52 cards.

4. For sure you know that an Ace can be counted as ther
High card (Ten-J-Q-K-A) in a straight or the Low card, (A-2-3-4-5) in a straight.

5. For a prize, define “kicker?

Answer: the ‘unpaired’ card (side card). Example:
Your hole cards are Ace-Ten, and the board shows K-T-3.
You have a pair of Tens with an Ace kicker. The Ace is the
unpaired card.

6. For Prize-of-Show, what is Kicker Trouble?

Let’s say you are holding a low kicker (side card) which rnwill probably lose to a higher kicker. You got A-3, and anr
Ace shows on board.

If there is betting, another player with an Ace will most likely
have a higher Kicker than yours. That’s Kicker Trouble.

7. What is the meaning of the expression, 3rd street?

Answer: 4th street is the turn-card, 5th street is the river-street,
And 3rd street is the FLOP.

8. What’s a Race situation?

Answer: when one player is holding two (2) overcards
playing against a pair. You got 2Ts, and your opponent holdsr
Ace-King. The odds are 55-45 in favor of the pair winning.

9. What’s a gut-shot?

Answer: the card that makes an inside-straight,
which is the same as making a straight by catching a card
inside.

10. What are other names for your holecard?

Answer: Downcard, Private Card, Pocket Cards.
