Why Symphony Conductors Live Longer.
If you read the obituaries for fun and as social history, the #1 occupation
producing healthy, long living folks – I mean into their 90s – are musical conductors rnmaking ridiculous arm gestures.
Can their secret of healthy, long lives, work for others? Inquiring Minds need to know because we want to be around for the fun and games.
The critical exercises are easy to employ at your desk and requires a miserly five-minutes to implement daily.
We have recommended these baby-easy exercises to a legion of executives who
have made it part of their normal routine. We receive positive feedback and not
one negative comment.
We can just throw these exercises at you – they are so uncomplicated – they seem
stupid. However, humans make 80% of our decisions based on Meaning – do we get it or not? Inquiring Minds want reasons and always ask – why should I?
Some Details
Have you ever heard of Detoxing The Thoracic Tract? Neither did we. The 12 thoracic vertebrae are the chest and contain your lungs and heart. It is located between the cervical (neck) and the lumbar (torso). Stay awake, it gets better.
We know medical stuff is boring and not practical in your life, but if you read
this stuff, it will tell you why you might want to start and continue Detoxing
Your Thoracic Tract. It only matters if you require longevity.
First, Detoxing is filtering out poisons. See: toxicum Latin = poision.
Second, Lymph is the fluid part of your blood. So what?
The Lymphatic system is part of your Immune system and the cells are called
lymphocytes. These cytes protect your body from viruses, bacteria, and antigens.
They filter out waste and remove excess fluid, debris, and dead blood cells.
If this stuff hangs around they get poisonous and can knock us off.
Wait. I don’t remember high school biology, but it turns out your lymphatic system is a partner with blood circulation and delivers nutrients, oxygen (nice), and hormones to your cells and the tissues spaces between cells.
The Hot Stuff
Of course you know the heart pumps the bloodstream. It circulates the body
and is cleansed by your kidneys. Here it comes – the lymphatic system does not own a pump to keep it in the flow. The designer of this lymph system set it up so it only
flows upward through the body, traveling from your feet and hands and upward rnthrough the body toward the neck. So what? Do the lymph flow or cash in your chips sooner than later.
Magic Words
The lymph ends up passing through the lymph nodes where filtering occurs. Now it is returned to the veins as plasma in your bloodstream as the Sanitation Department. Not important? These poisons (toxins) cause disease and guess what else?
How To
Close the door to your office to avoid folks thinking you flipped. You can do the five minutes standing or sitting at your computer. Ever see the football referee signal
a touchdown or field goal? He raises his arms straight upward parallel to each other, right?
Your assignment, if you accept it Mr. Phelps, is to start with your arms down, and quickly raise them to the sky – parallel to each other. How many times? I do 250 consecutive repetitions in 2.5 minutes. Nothing to it, easy, fun and it is quickly completed.
Next, arms stretched outward, and moved inward looking like a bridge opening and
closing. Easy as pie doing 200 reps in about 2 minutes. I do both exercises with my earphones on, listening to meditation music.
Result
You are Detoxing your thoracic tract by circulating your lymph. Are you cleaning
your lungs and heart? And cells, organs and tissues.
Create a mental image of a symphony conductor waving his/her arms around. He isrnpumping the lymph around his body and particularly his/her Thoracic tract.
That is exactly what you want to imitate with these baby-easy two exercises taking just five minutes.
Look, I know you have a busy day and who needs another stupid thing to add tornyour routine. We do not recommend exercises outside the areas of speed reading and memory. You may want to test this – but it is your choice, of course.

Brainstorming
This is a quickie, but a goodie. If you want to get the juices flowing of your creative team, excite their motivation by giving them a small (no monetary significance) gift.
You are awakening the emotions leading to a different set of behaviors. Humans cannot help reacting positively to a gift or prize regardless of its value. Inquiring minds know that pleasure is triggered by dopamine and norepinelphrine.
One more scientific term: the nucleus accumbens of the basal ganglia is known asrnthe Pleasure tract. It kicks in when rewarded. It excites motivation and a sense of rnplay when rewarded.
We have seen a tiny package of M&Ms handed out to a creative team – work magic.
Why? We are hardwired to seek Pleasure and avoid Pain. Giving out a ten-cent prize like you find in a box of Crackerjacks, will motive hardened veterans to get in the flow with new ideas.
Get this: imagine showing a ten-minute Three-Stooges comedy to a team of PhDs.
It changes their mood, and you awaken their motivation to cooperate and create.
The larger the screen the better because it is a reversion to good times as a kid
at the movies. Play with this scientifically validated idea and you will be pleasantly
surprised. We don’t expect to be entertained at work, so our mood improves.
