You probably have heard before that breakfast is the most important meal of the entire day. In this case, it is not only a myth but the truth. A well-balanced and nutritious diet can help to boost your metabolism, improve your mood and reduce risks of being diagnosed with health problems later in life.
Even then, nearly half of the population give little to no importance at all to breakfast. The most common excuses are, they have no time to eat in the morning, or that they rather skip breakfast so that they can cut down on their calories. People who claim that they have no time to take breakfast in the morning are just lazy. If you are serious about losing weight, then you should wake up earlier to take your breakfast regardless of your schedule. Breakfast is very important in helping you lose weight and improve your health; the following article discusses how it does so.
First of all, taking a hearty breakfast will help to jumpstart your metabolism rate for the entire day. It will also make you feel more alert throughout the day. After a night's worth of sleep, your body needs to get sufficient energy to address the energy needs of the various organs within your body. By not taking breakfast, you feel weak and less alert. You may even have noticed that your friends or family members who usually wake up early and take a wholesome breakfast usually look very energetic! When you sleep, you go into a fasting mode, and after not eating for several hours, your metabolism slows down to a crawl, and if you still decide to skip breakfast, these prolonged fasting periods will cause your body to accumulate any more food you take in as fats.
Secondly, people mistakenly belief that skipping breakfast will help them to lose weight and take in fewer calories for the day. However, the truth cannot be further away from that. Research has shown that there is a direct relationship between maintaining a healthy weight and taking breakfast. In other words, people who take breakfast are found to have a healthier weight!
The most interesting part about these research findings is that people who take a healthy breakfast do indeed consume more overall calories each day, but their weight was significantly lower than those who do not take breakfast. The reason behind this is that the skipping of breakfast slows down their metabolism, therefore burning fewer calories than those who did eat their breakfast.
