In the search for this balance, yoga has gained greater popularity in recent years in the West. We usually begin our yoga practice to keep the body in shape, by medical recommendation or by the search for emotional, mental or spiritual stability. Whatever the reason that drives us to start our practice, it has multiple health benefits, and those who practice it consistently and disciplined feel a positive change in their body and mind.
According to the WHO, health is a state of physical, mental and social well-being, and not just the absence of conditions or diseases. Thus, health requires well-being at different levels.
Yoga is a practice that seeks to become aware of the union that exists between the body, the mind, and the spirit. This practice consists of several components; as its principles or rules of life (yamas and niyamas), breath control (pranayama) and meditation (dhyana), among others. However, the most popular of these in the West are the asanas.
They are a series of postures that are performed with the body in a fluid way and connection with the mind and breathing. Despite the myths about yoga, it should be clarified that it can be practiced by people of any age, culture, sex, and religion. The practice must be guided by certified and experienced teachers that ensure responsible teaching and learning.
If we suffer from any special illness or physical condition, we must have the endorsement of our doctor and we must inform our teacher.
Yoga helps us change the way we perceive the world around us and our lifestyle, both physical and mental and spiritual.
It opens a range of possibilities, allowing us to develop knowledge about ourselves. Through its practice and commitment, we can achieve the mind-body-spirit balance in our body, as it teaches us to recover the most real of ourselves and connect with our stillness in the social disorder in which we live, reaching So inner peace.
Yoga has a huge impact on the body and health of the people who practice it, providing infinite physical and mental benefits. Constant and disciplined practice helps us to face reality and daily problems and situations in a calm and controlled way. Yoga plays a very important role, therefore, in the field of physical and mental health.
Many of its techniques are very effective in preventing arthritis, osteoarthritis, myocardium, lumbago, asthma, bronchitis, constipation, anxiety and various psychic disorders. It also intervenes emotionally, favoring psychic harmony, and allowing us to resolve our internal conflicts calmly and peacefully.
Also, yoga stimulates the release of endorphins, as their movements and postures stimulate specific areas of our body that activate different chemicals in the brain. These endorphins cause feelings of well-being and pleasure, which helps fight depression and stress.
So dare to try this ancient practice and take advantage of all the benefits that yoga has for you!Article author
