There are experts all around us. Professionals who can, and will, tell us how to handle our finances, our health, our children, our garden, our golf – even our sex lives and our funeral arrangements. Psychologists and job interviewers will hand us personality assessment tests and tell us where we fit into the scheme of human nature or career preferences. Seldom are we encouraged to understand who the true expert is.

You are the greatest expert on your own life. You have within in you all the answers to your own questions about yourself. You have the inner wisdom already to know what you need to do and how to do it. What blocks us is the sense that we do not know, or the inte
al voices that repeat the old messages that we heard as children (usually about not being good enough or unworthy).

Once we begin to hear our authentic, true voice, we can gain access to that inner wisdom.

When people come to see me and I tell them that I can offer them no advice, they are sometimes taken aback, until they start to recognize that seeking advice from another person whom they designate as “the expert” is part of the old learned pattern of giving up their own power. My job is to hand back the label of expert to where it truly belongs.

A common phrase used in Coaching and therapy is experiencing an “Ah Ha” moment. A thought occurs to you that shifts your universe, you get a different perspective. A basic value that you live by is changed or altered. Everything concerned with your life, relationships, faith or even who you think you are can be effected. It happens in an instant. The roller coaster just reached the top of the ride and then, you just took off! This was mine, yesterday.

So here we are once again celebrating Christmas. How fast this seems to come around, especially the older I get. Peace and Joy, these are the tools for a meaningful life. I wish you PEACE. Peace in your heart, with your families and friends. Peace in your mind, especially looking toward the future. I wish you JOY. Joy to continually fill your heart. Your mind thinking of joyful things to do with those you love and care about, giving you a reason to get up everyday. This is truly one of the secrets to creating the memories that slow down the passing of time.
