Everyone endures this personal emotional rollercoaster with no apparent end in sight. There were so many questions but absolutely no answers in how to get on with the rest of one's life after divorce especially when it's adversarial. Self-reliance was, and is, the best advice I ever focused on that enabled me to begin to realize there is more to life than hoping for a reconciliation that will never happen. So, if you can't be friends - make new ones! Ease on down the road and start living your life!

Look at it like this: Happy endings reside at Turner Classic Movies! NOT!

They reside in 3 places - your Heart, Mind & Soul!

Never forget that, together, they are your personal Holy Trinity. And thank godness for them all!!!

Divorce is a difficult thing to endure. A very difficult thing. Certainly, it does not need to be any harder to deal with but the animosity it generates it is impossible to quell--for the heart and mind, I mean. The change divorce creates is brutal. The worst part about it is the negativity it can create for all the guilty and innocent people involved. Relationships are horribly affected for the short term and, in some cases, for the rest of one's life.

It was always surprising to me how people can do that so quickly; going from one relationship to another with apparent ease. With the mind of a gypsy moth they can get on with their lives as they leave another life behind. It’s akin to a light switch; one can turn it ‘on’ or ‘off’ with the flick of a finger. I’ve always been envious of such behavior or is it an attitude of such an obtuse, uncaring type that I should be glad I am without it? But honestly, what’s their secret I wondered?

How does a man get over a divorce or a relationship that had run its course? Other than one’s friends or the bars where can a man turn to get support or the needed help to just talk and figure out how to get back on the road to self confidence and feel good about himself again? A friend of mine gave me this bit of sage advice that went something like this: “C’mon, man. The hell with her. Women are like bicycles. You ride ‘em for a while then you find a nicer, shinier one. No big deal.”
