  • 2004-2007: Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine - Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
  • 1993-1997: Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine - Masters degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine
  • 1997-1998: Yunnan Province TCM Hospital: Interned in their internal medicine department where Chinese medicine (herbs) were used in the treatment of hepatitis.

Teaching

  • Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine MD Tutorial Program-Santa Monica, Ca. 1999 to 2001. Provided individual tutoring to biomedical physicians who desired training in TOM.
  • ECTOM Master Degree Program-Santa Monica, Ca. June, 1999 to 2007. Classes taught include Introduction to Herbology, Oriental Diagnosis, Zang-Fu Syndromes (internal medicine), and Scalp Acupuncture.
  • ECTOM Clinical Supervisor-Santa Monica, Ca. June, 1999 to 2007. Duties include overseeing student interns’ diagnoses and creation of treatment protocols as well as the implementation of treatment. I have also taught a class called “clinical theatre” where students observe me providing treatment.
  • Califo ia Acupuncture Board Continuing Education Provider #598. I teach a five-hour course in Dietary Supplement and Health Education Act as applied to the marketing of herbal supplements for acupuncturists in Califo ia as well as a course on herb-drug interactions. I also teach a three-hour course on Chinese medicine pulse diagnosis.
  • Califo ia Acupuncture Board Continuing Education - "Pulse Diagnosis Made Rediculously Simple"
  • Continuing Medical Education instructor for physicians and nurses on the topic of Herb/Drug Interactions, and the Integration of Herbs and Pharmacotherapies into a biomedical internal medicine practice.

http://beyondwellbeing.com : webmaster and author, 1998 to present. Website features extensive articles on my practice specialties of IBS and headaches. There is also a fun prognosis tool and popular tongue diagnosis test available on-line.

http://gancao.net : webmaster and author, 2002 to present. Website serves as a portal for traditional Chinese medicine resources worldwide. This site features a number of self-authored articles on a variety of topics of interest to patients and practitioners alike including a self-authored continuing education class on the DSHEA (Dietary Supplement and Health Education Act of 1994) for acupuncturists.
