Barbara Rubel, MA, BCETS, D.A.A.E.T.S. is a nationally recognized author and keynote speaker on increasing self-awareness of skills and strengths that improve the ability to handle job burnout, secondary traramatc stress and vicarious trauma. Barbara is the author of, But I Didn't Say Goodbye: helping families after a suicide (2020), the 30-hour continuing education course book for Nurses, Loss, Grief, and Bereavement: Helping Individuals Cope (2019), and COVID-19 Loss Grief and Beravement (2021). She is the co-author of the Dept. of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime Training Curriculum, Compassion Fatigue and is a contributing writer in Coaching for Results: Expert Advice From 25 Top International Coaches; Keys to a Good Life: Wisdom to Unlock Your Power Within; Thin Threads: Grief and Renewal; and Fresh Grief. Barbara was featured in the Emmy award winning Documentary, Fatal Mistakes, narrated by Mariette Hartley. Barbara, a Certified Bereavement Specialist, was a hospice bereavement coordinator, and bereavement support group facilitator. As an adjunct at Brooklyn College, she taught undergraduate and graduate courses related to community health. Currently, she is a consultant with the Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime Barbara received a BS in Psychology and MA in Community Health with a concentration in thanatology from Brooklyn College and is a Board-Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress.
