I am am an experienced counsellor and owner of the private practice Sheffield Central Counselling in Sheffield, UK. I have a background in philosophy and University teaching and this experience has informed my approach to working with clients. I use a variety of approaches, including cognitive behaviour therapy, transactional analysis, person centred approaches and gestalt. My aim is to suit my way of working to my clients.

As well as working with private individuals, and accepting referrals from trade unions and employee organisations, I have experience of working with trauma at South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association and Sheffield Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Service.

As a counsellor in private practice, I have the opportunity to work with many clients who have decided for themselves that it would be helpful to talk to an impartial and empathic professional. Clients who come to private counselling for help typically have not sought referral to an NHS counsellor through their GP because they are not suffering from depression or anxiety, and they are not in severe distress.

Counselling for Road Accident Trauma After a road traffic accident people frequently experience problems such as anxiety, tearfulness, short-temper, difficulties sleeping. These and similar issues can stay with people for a long time after the accident. This can be an indication of psychological trauma, which, without help, can sometimes develop into full-blown post traumatic stress disorder: a very debilitating condition.
