Be ardo Merizalde

I was born in White Plains, New York, and raised in Colombia, South America. I finished high school at the Liceo de Cervantes, where I received my Baccalaureate Diploma. I went to medical school at the Universidad del Rosario, in Bogota, Colombia. At Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, I completed my internship and residency training. I am Board Certified in adult and adolescent psychiatry. I practice of general medicine and psychiatry with an emphasis on a holistic approach that includes the physical, mental and “spiritual’ aspects of the individual; I consider the spiritual aspects, in whatever context and extent the individual person conceptualizes them, transcendent context or solely humanistic ideals and perspectives, to be a critical part of a healthy life. I have worked with patients of various ages suffering a variety of physical and psychological problems including allergies, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, depression, attention deficit disorder, anxiety and other conditions.

I have been practicing complementary/alte ative medicine, and homeopathy in particular for nineteen years. I have taken various courses with worldly renowned teachers in homeopathy that include Francisco Eisayaga, Sheila Creasy, Andre Saine, Paul Herscu and others. I have been a member of the American Institute for Homeopathy, the National Center for Homeopathy and International Medical League since 1987 and attend most of the organizations’ scientific annual meetings. At the present time I hold the office of president for the American Institute of Homeopathy, the oldest, extant, medical society in the US. I am also a member of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis and its component chapter, the Greater Philadelphia Society of Clinical Hypnosis, of which I am also a member of its board of directors.

I have been trained, and certified, in developmental coaching including Susanne Cook-Greuter's Leadership Developmental Framework, Don Beck's Spiral Dynamics I and II, and Stephen Barrett's Cultural Transformation Tools.

I have made presentations and lectures: at various medical conferences; for graduate and undergraduate students, and medical residents, at Jefferson and Temple Universities, the University of Pennsylvania, the Medical College of Pennsylvania; for homeopathic study groups affiliated to the National Center for Homeopathy, the Internatinal Medical Homeopathic League (Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis), and other professional organizations and consumer groups.
