During my "professional carrier" have worn many hats ranging from the construction trades to sales. During the late 1990's I joined up with my brother and grew a landscaping business. Around 2003 I began to hone my skill set in to real estate and construction. After leaving landscaping I set out to obtain the licenses that I would need to move forward. Having obtained my real estate brokerage license and my unlimited general contractor license I opened up two new businesses, Carolina Mountain Realty & Development and Blue Ridge Homes.

By 2007 we were building 6 to 7 spec homes a year and business was brisk. Needless to say we know how this story goes... the recession stepped in and what I worked to build over 5 or 6 years vaporized in matter of months. However, I considered myself fortunate not to have lost everything. Thankfully, I was able to parlay my skill set into condominium association management where I have been the past three years.

Now it’s 2012 and the property management is going gangbusters, but I am trying my hand at yet another entrepreneurial venture, HOAConnections. Over all these businesses the one thing I could do and do well was program and establishes web presence for my businesses. So, here I am sharing with you my experience and experiences and hoping that 2012 brings another fruitful turn in my professional life.

As a child, I grew up loving computers. I was the first kid I knew who was into BBS's (Bulletin Board Services). The idea of being able to download a file, much less a workable program, was there, but at 1200 baud, it would have taken days.

Preventing Property Managers from Committing to Wasteful Time Sinks? As a full-time property manager in charge of approximately 500+ condominium units and working in an office where there are over 35 properties and 2800+ doors I know a little something about repetition. The job of the property manager is to help manage property not regurgitate information that the members of the association should already have. Here is a short list gleamed from a rather large list of reoccurring themes: Rules & Regulations Violations

In The Beginning In the beginning of credit cards, at least as I remember, it was the old slide machine. You know, place the card in the platform and then place a receipt slip with carbon paper insert on top of the card and then slide the roller over and a copy of the vitals is imprinted on the receipt. As a kid, we never could have imagined where our technologies would be today and the way in which people would complete transactions. My How Far We’ve Come
