A Reflection on MLK Day: How Racism is fueled
Listening to a South Carolina morning radio show, I overheard the local disc jockey discussing the blockbuster movie, “Avatar.” (Super movie, by the way!) What had begun as an innocent dialogue about how well the film was performing at the box office transformed into one of those one-way exchanges (about an aspect of the film) that I found particularly disturbing.

NDE…and I didn’t die once
After my father passed away in 2005, I was absolutely devastated. I was just 34 years old and didn’t know how I was going to survive without my mentor and 24-7 comedic reliever. Each day I’d receive a call from my father, “Want to hear a good joke?” How I miss those avid rings from the man who I was proud to call my dad. It wasn’t until after he crossed to the other side, that I’d started receiving some profound messages. Call it intuition, call it psyche, call it vision, or call it anything you like – but I prefer to call it a Near Death Experience.

The Worst DIY Disaster – the Monster in the Closet
The joys of home ownership are sometimes out of this world…or at least I would like to propel some of those “joys” to another planet, anyway. That being said, there’s a little story about a certain you know what that has had a mind of its own since the day I moved into my new house. I still don’t understand why it declared war on us, but I imagine the rigorous traffic from the kids, the dogs, other family members, and yes, the occasional guest was just a bit much for the pretentious water heater in the back room.
