I so appreciate getting specific feedback on my blogs for a number of reasons. The most obvious is that it lets me know that people are actually reading them! Since I write to share what I’m passionate about in the hopes of inspiring and educating others, it’s always nice to know that someone has taken time out of their busy schedule to read what I’ve written.

OK, I know what you’re probably thinking. It’s easy to see the connection between dieting and DNA, or at least how your DNA might have something to do with your weight. But dating and DNA?

Do you ever find yourself repeating patterns that make you unhappy or that you know are unhealthy? Do you sometimes overreact to a situation or feel like a small child without understanding why? Do you wonder why some people seem to flow through life with grace and ease while you struggle and can never seem to get, or keep, what you want?

Did you ever just “get it?” You know what I mean, right? There’s some thing that you thought you understood; you’ve heard it a bazillion times, agreed with, repeated it to other people, maybe even taught it. Then, in a moment, it comes to you in a slightly different way and you embody it. That is, you take it in and understand it in a deeper and more resonant way than you ever have before.

Each morning I step out on my back deck and say this short prayer, “Mighty God in me, I face thy ete al sunrise and receive its mighty radiance and activity visibly manifesting in my life and affairs. And so it is. Amen.” I’ve noticed that the prayer somehow seems more potent on sunny days than on overcast or rainy days, such as this morning. Like a small child who doesn’t understand that an object can exist even if she can’t see it, my brain seems to react to the fact that the sun is not visible by thinking that it doesn’t exist.

Close to my house, and on my way to just about every place I drive, there is a five way intersection. If you’ve ever been through a five way intersection, you know that things can get a little dicey when there are more than a couple cars at any one time. As long as everyone can count, and follows basic rules of courtesy, things can flow pretty smoothly. Introduce an uncertain or aggressive driver into the mix, however, and things can go bad very quickly!

Mother Nature, in the form of heavy snow, has blessed me the gift of time this morning. With schools closed and clients calling to cancel, the morning has taken on a slower, more relaxed pace. Sitting with a cup of tea, gazing out the window, I feel a gentle release, glorious unexpected time to breathe a little more deeply.

Almost everyone I know, myself included, is experiencing some major change in their lives, or in the lives of their loved ones. Many people are experiencing changes in more than one area. We tend to feel alone when these things happen, often not recognizing that others are also struggling. Or we may take the opposite approach and commiserate with others, sharing the doom and gloom, and getting into a place of fear and anxiety about our lives and our world.

The beauty and the challenge in writing about manifesting what you need and want is that there is an overwhelming amount of information on this topic. Everywhere I turn these days I am brought face to face with the buzzwords of Universal Laws, co-creation, vibrational frequency, intention, abundance, prosperity mentality, gratitude and appreciation. Despite all the available information, I’m not seeing many people around me creating great prosperity, whether that be wealth, health, relationships, work or leisure.

The weather outside seems to be offering an uncanny reflection of what I am witnessing going on within so many people, myself included. I am reminded of the quote by the Greek poet Hermessianex, “As within, so without.” One minute we are basking in the beauty of a late summer day, cloudless sky, warm sun and gentle breezes. Then suddenly and without warning we are thrust rudely into the cool nights of Fall scrambling to bundle up against the sudden chill, wondering what happened to the last lazy, hazy days of summer.

All my life I’ve enjoyed words, word arrangement and the meanings we assign them. As a kid I was fascinated with the double meaning that I read into the slogan on the Vaseline jar…”the first aid kit in a jar”. Did they mean it was the very first aid kit or that that it was an actual first-aid kit in a jar? Ok, I admit this may not have the same deep significance for you as it did for me (to this day, I can’t look at a jar of Vaseline without asking the question!) but in my mind it stands out as an example of how we can interpret the same words to have different meanings.
