Christina Wolf, MAOM, LAc is a graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture, one of the oldest and most prestigious Oriental Medicine programs in the country. She was among the first acupuncturists to be licensed in New Hampshire and has maintained a practice in Peterborough for over eight years. She recently joined the medical staff at the Northeast Center for Holistic Medicine in Bedford, NH, where she sees patients on Fridays.
Christina has completed advanced studies in treating infertility with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, in order to deepen her understanding of how this ancient medicine can help get the body ready conception and pregnancy. She is grateful to have studied with a true master and enjoys sharing what she has learned with couples who are struggling to start a family. Not wishing to limit her practice to infertility, Christina also has many years of experience in treating patients with low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches, multiple sclerosis, insomnia, anxiety, menopause and other women’s health issues.
In the treatment room, Christina blends aspects of Japanese Acupuncture, Dr. Tan’s Balance Method, Five Element Acupuncture and her own clinical observations with Traditional Chinese Acupuncture. Though taking Chinese herbal medicine is not required, she has found that they accelerate the healing process when treating chronic or stubborn conditions. Through her extensive Chinese pharmacy, Christina is able to offer high-potency, custom-made teas (granules dissolved in hot water) as well as ready-made pills, tablets, tinctures and topical products.Articles by this expert

Menstrual Cramps Be Gone!
Whenever I tell a woman that Chinese medicine can help make her menstrual cramps a thing of the past, she regards me with a great deal of skepticism. I understand, as I once suffered from cramps so intense that I routinely took six ibuprofen at a time during my periods, just to be able to function. My doctors always told me this was "normal" and until I asked for it in my 20's, never even offered me stronger pain medication. When I learned in my first year of acupuncture school that the Chinese do not consider intense menstrual cramps "normal", I was flabbergasted.

Time for an Acupuncture Tune-Up?
Usually, people come in for acupuncture when they have a specific health problem they want to tackle. Only rarely does someone come in just to see how acupuncture can help them stay well, but the truth is that acupuncture is at its best when used as a tool to prevent illness and maintain wellness. I recommend that my patients consider an "acupuncture tune-up" once a month, just as you might have a massage to keep your muscles loose or a chiropractic treatment to maintain spinal health. I find it especially important for patients to come in at the change of seasons.

Patience, the Key to Healing with Acupuncture
One of my professors in acupuncture school was fond of telling us that, as acupuncturists, we'd have about two weeks to make patients feel better. He reasoned that most people will discontinue treatment if they don't see any improvement in their condition in that time frame. We all laughed back then, but he was serious and, as it turns out, he was right. For the most part, this isn't an issue. Acupuncture is so effective that most people feel a difference within the first four visits (usually over two weeks).

Male Factor Infertility and Chinese Medicine
For far too long women have shouldered the blame, and the shame, for a couple's inability to have a baby. The truth is, male factor infertility, where a problem with a man's semen and/or sperm keep it from fertilizing a woman's egg, accounts for about 40% of all infertility. Why so much ...

Ten Simple Ways to Enhance Your Fertility
1. Pinpoint your ovulation. If you have only a vague idea of when you ovulate or if you think that just because you have a 28-day menstrual cycle you probably ovulate on day 14, then you may be missing your opportunity to get pregnant every month. Use basal body temperature (BBT) charts, ...

Top 5 Misconceptions About Acupuncture
In recent years acupuncture has enjoyed a tremendous surge in popularity and acceptance. Just the other day, my mother called to tell me "Oprah's talking about acupuncture on her show today!"
