Since friends and family told me I could "talk to a wall" it was recommended to me from a young age to go into sales. Luckily for me...they were right.

But, it had little to do with talking. What I really was, was a connector. All things psychology that could help me understand the brain, our drives, personalities, intentions and agendas. I studies NLP, leadership psychology, body languange, high-level communication (VAK) and so, so much more.

Fast forward and I had doubled sales my first year in retail ($350K to $830K), my first year in B2B commercial sales ($880K to $2.2M) and my secoond year as a Director of Commercial Sales ($2.3M to $5.6M). That gave me a ton of credibility in my industry so I became quite in demand as a sales trainer. That was really cool but I wanted to do so much more.

So, I began my own companies (3 of them) since I had learned so much about not only selling (like crazy) but also marketing, hiring right, training, growing strategically and bunches of other stuff. Each of these companies began to do some pretty amazing things and were very fulfilling for several years but I still felt like I wasn't delivering on all that I had to give.

In 2008 I founded IntoGreat Training Technologies which focused on helping entrepreneurs and small business owners start or grow an explosibe business that was tied to their passions and creating a fun and fulfilling experience for all.

Today, I get to spend my days working with incredible people who want to make major differences in their own lives while exacting incredible changes in others. How lucky am I? My happiness and income comes strictly from helping others acheive their dreams and following their passions.

Really smart people can draw accurate conclusions, right? In fact, as we go through high school and enter the work force or perhaps continue onto college we are taught that having strong opinions and being able to draw quick conclusions is the mark of intelligence. Someone asks you, “What do you think about global warming?” and you have an opinion, right? “Which do you think is better, Apple or Android?” If you have a pulse you most definitely have a (strong) opinion on this one, don’t you?

Have you ever had someone try to convince you that there’s a difference between doing what you would ‘like’ to do and doing what you ‘have’ to do? In other words, you must come to terms with the fact that throughout your life you will need to find a job that you do not particularly enjoy. You will go to work from 9-5, Monday through Friday so that when Friday finally does arrive you can be in line to shout at the top of your lungs, “TGIF baby!”

Truth, how many times have you read that the world’s most successful sales people are the best closers? Have you ever read about the ‘twenty-three power closes’? Or perhaps the ‘ABC (Always Be Closing) method’? Ok, here’s my one question...do you like to be closed? Really, can you think of any time in your life when you enjoyed someone trying to close you? I think we all know the answer to that question is an emphatic ‘NO!’ So, why are we constantly having some sales guru explain to us that closing is not only the most successful way but really the only way to succeed?

We are always the best at the things we love to do and about which we are the most passionate. So, why not design a business and a life that you love built around your passions and strengths? In fact, unless you want to leave happiness and profits on the table you would be crazy to build it any other way.
