As a certified holistic health coach, Dawn guides her clients toward better health. Benefits of Mindful Eating
As I sit down to the hot, fresh meal I have just prepared in my humble kitchen, I must take a moment to remind myself of my intention. My goal is to not inhale this meal like so many in the past. I want to fully experience the food I have carefully cooked and this requires a certain level of focus and self-discipline. There is no television noise, no music, and no conversation taking place. I inhale and exhale deeply and take notice of the quietness around me. I look down and admire each component of the meal which I have artfully arranged on my 7 inch plate.

We need to get back to the basics!
Did you wake up this morning, look in the mirror, and say, “enough is enough!” If you did, I know exactly how you feel. I spent years going back and forth between happy with my body and “OMG! I have to go to the gym now!” I think we all battle the same exact thing: we meet our health goal, we get comfortable with our progress, we lose focus, and we end up back where we started. My philosophy on health is that mother nature provides us with everything we need stay healthy and well. Our bodies are designed for self-healing and if given enough time and care, we can rid ourselves of most illness. The key to good health is prevention, prevention, prevention. There is no magic pill or quick fix crash diet that is going to solve our health problmes without dangerous side effects. The path to happiness and longevity lies in the ability to adopt a balanced lifestyle, permanently. Most importantly, eat whole foods and herbs rather than processed "food."
