Personal Perspective

Marital relationships are an ongoing challenge, just as parent-child relationships, family relationships and work relationships can sometimes be challenging. I have had the good fortune to witness outstanding relationships such as those of my parents and grandparents. Why, I wondered, did I feel at one time that my marriage was not as seemingly "perfect" as theirs was? Is it just a sign of the busy, fast paced lifestyles we are living, or did I pick the wrong life partner? Those and many other questions I asked of myself. My husband and I entered marriage counseling and we met with three different counselors who had different perspectives on our situation. What I learned was that no marriage is perfect. We all have the power to make each relationship be what we choose it to be. (With a few exceptions such as domestic violence or abuse.)

That is when I made the committment to help other individuals and couples struggling with these same or similar issues. I work with women in crisis- those suffering through an abusive marriage, and those individuals who are dissatisfied or frustrated with their relationships.

I also feel compelled to share what I now know about balancing the demands of work and home since for many years I was the primary wage earner in our home while working in a stressful sales position with high travel demands. It took many attempts to learn how to balance all the needs of home, family, spouse and community, but I believe I have some practical ideas that you can use.

So, you will find that I am not your typical counselor who will listen and nod, "Ah" or "Uh-Uh." I have concrete ideas and interact with you to find what works best to meet your needs. I can help you to find your inner strength to make the changes in your life you are seeking so that you can achieve your goals, hopes and dreams for a better life.
