D2P is a woman-owned corporation and provides a range of services to women in business, to small businesses in general, to other non-business organizations, large and small. The Alliance is a wholly owned non-profit venture of Agere, AT&T, Avaya Communication, Furukawa, Lucent Technologies, Tyco International, the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The Alliance's mission is to provide training, educational and learning experiences to the companies’ workforces, using a facilitated empowerment model. President-retired of Alliance Plus, Inc, and as a member of its Board of Directors. Alliance Plus is a for-profit subsidiary of The Alliance. Alliance Plus provides consulting in training, developing learning organizations, education, organizational effectiveness and change management. Services are provided for a wide range of clients, both public and private, profit and nonprofit. Background and Experience Background, especially suited for the work of D2P, includes over thirty-five years experience in industrial relations using a ‘partnership model’ at the local, national and international levels. He has extensive experience in negotiations, all-win solutions development, conflict resolution and facilitation of individuals and groups. Has experience in administration of education and training programs, at both local and national levels. Experience also includes adult instruction in classroom settings, and in small teams within a works environment. Has served on a number of various Advisory Boards, and has given testimony on training and education legislation. Services on the Two Rivers Community School board in Boone, North Carolina and founded the Appalachian Foundation for Learning, Inc. a 501c3 charitable organization under IRS rules, serving on its board, and also serves as its Vice President and Treasurer. International Experience Over the past several years has worked with business, labor and government representatives of the United Kingdom, the Pacific Rim, South America, Rumania, and Western Europe. Work involvies issues related to workplace effectiveness, participative all-win relationships in the business world, and global competitive success. Recent experiences included a Western European Study Tour on School-to-work transition supporting legislation known as the Youth Opportunities Act; and with the United States Bureau of International Labor Affairs and Black Sea University project on Tripartite Relationships in Rumania. Education and Professional Development has a Degree in Labor Studies from Indiana University and a graduate degree in Labor and Policy Issues from State University of New York (ESC). In addition, is a graduate of Harvard's Management of Lifelong Education Program. Has participated in numerous seminars, workshops and learning conferences on “all-win” negotiations, professional development, leading-edge learning technologies and processes, and effective public presentation skills. Has also undertaken learning on organizational design and development, policy development, job evaluation and skills-based compensation, and has developed programs and seminars on leadership, partnership, and personal/professional effectiveness. Holds certification as a Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF)™ from the International Association of Facilitators. Has been published on skilled facilitation, and has developed a Primer on Facilitation,presented to the annual conference of the Association of Joint Labor Management Education programs in 2004. Participated in a Futures Conference of the Alliance for Employee Growth and Development facilitated by Marvin Weisbord and Sandra Janoff of the internationally know Future Search Network.
