Dr Irina’s short autobiography.
I am a medical doctor specialising in Women and Children’s Health. My focus topics are eating disorders and addictions. Also I have an interest in fertility and pregnancy because fertility is a common problem amongst eating disorders suffers and women with addictions.
I also love books. I love reading books but more importantly I love to write them. I have written and published many books regarding women’s health. I work closely with other medical practitioners who write books, doing seminars and educating people about health.
I graduated medical school in 1993 in St. Petersburg (Russia) and worked in the Women and Children Hospital from 1993-2000 doing a lot of research on Women’s and Children’s Health mainly on eating disorders and infertility areas and how these two can be connected.
I use a holistic approach to medicine and treat my patients from a whole person point of view. I take into consideration not only the medical problems of a person, but also the personal circumstances of each patient, their upbringing, developmental issues as well as racial, educational and social issues.
In March 2001 I came to Australia because I married an Australian.
From 2001-2003 I did a lot of studies in Australia and passed numerous tests to be able to practice medicine in Australia.
From 2003 – 2007, I worked in The Canberra Hospital (Australia) where I continued my research into eating disorders: why they occur, who is more likely to be affected, what are the developmental stages of the disease, how it is more likely to be stopped, the methods and techniques that help to prevent and stop eating disorders.
In addition to that, I have always been interested in women’s health areas like pregnancy and infertility. I researched a lot about women’s physiological state and how it influences the whole life of a woman.
In 2008 I created my revolutionary Eating Disorder Home Treatment Program based on Neuroplasticity. You can access it at http://www.bulimia-cure.com or
http://www.eatingdisorder-cure.com
I have completed a number of medical, psychological and holistic medicine lectures in Russia regarding eating disorder treatment including:
• “Advanced Strategies for Eating Disorders Treatment” (October1998 - May 1999)
• “Distorted Body Image: Broken Eye Syndrome” (November 1997)
• “Adolescence is dangerous time for developing an eating disorder”.(January 1997)
• “Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Eating Disorders Treatment”. (April 1998)
• “Physiology and Psychology of Eating Disorders.” ( November 1999)
• “Family Therapy for Eating Disorder Patients.” (June 2000)
• “Eating Disorders and Media.” (February 2001)
I have also attended and enjoyed many self-improvement seminars including seminars by Anthony Robbins, Deepak Chopra, Dr Denis Whitley, Zig Ziglar and Stuart Wilde.
My books.
People often ask me how I started write books. I didn’t write books in Russia because my job as a doctor consumed all my time. It was a process and a whole series of events that brought me to writing and publishing.
My grandfather had a major influence on me and my creativity. He taught me a lot about literature, writers and poets. He read to me from a very young age, showing me books with photos of famous writers on them; not just the Russian classics but European and American also.
He made me learn all their names and the names of their major works; this gave me the desire to read them all when I got older.
In high school I really wanted to become a jou alist but my parents insisted on me becoming a doctor. Consequently, at the age of 16 I had to change my values from creative thinking to being an intellectual thinker: a big task to conquer.
I became a “blocked artist”, having my values incongruent to my soul. My soul wanted to create but I had to maintain a responsible intellectual job for 13 years of my life.
I continuously felt that something was missing in my life like most “blocked artists” do. I tried to express myself in different ways: I married and had my child very early in my life, got divorced early, married again, immigrated to a different country and learned a different language.
Luckily, I kept a diary for years and wrote everything that was occupying my thoughts - my dreams, the things I couldn’t express and couldn’t speak about because they were too personal.
It was when I was reading over it one day I got an idea that I would love to write a book. I spoke about this in my diary as one of the things I miss so much in my life. But what should I write about?
The turning point for me was one night at the hospital; a patient came in and asked for help with her eating disorder. I tried to help her by talking and reassuring her that there was hope. I knew a lot about this problem as I was a sufferer once myself, even helping others in Russia to get better.
When the patient left I was berated by the doctor in charge for wasting time on people like that when there were “real” patients to see.
This was the wrong approach and I knew it. That was the episode that gave me the idea for my first book. I approached my husband, William, with my idea and he was all for it. He was more than happy to help, especially as he had knowledge of psychology.
The book was based on a true story of a person I knew who was dealing with a very sick daughter suffering from anorexia and bulimia. I was well aware of the struggle to save her daughter’s life and how she eventually succeeded.
The book became so successful although I published it under a pseudonym (or a pen name). Then I continued to write more books regarding women’s health problems I was interested in.
My women’s health related books are:
• “Pregnancy from A to Z!” • “Cure Your Eating Disorder: 5 Step Program to Cure Your Brain. Neuroplasticity Approach.”
• “Secrets of Getting Pregnant : You Can Overcome Infertility”
• “Mom Please Help” adults’ version on how to stop anorexia-bulimia.
• Overcome Genital Herpes: One Couples Fight For A New Life.(co-authored eBook)
I have also written a book “How to Become a Successful Author: 34 Steps to Self-Publishing and Marketing Profits.” (authored with William Webster) where I described all the steps I went through to succeed in the writing and publishing world, from having no idea what to write about to the stage where your book sells successfully.
I have also written hundreds of articles about Women’s health that were published in different sources of the media.
I love to work withEzine Articles where I am an Expert Author.

Traveling is one of my main hobbies. I enjoy learning about different people, history and different cultures. I have also done quite a bit of research on how different people from different cultures are affected by eating disorders and what is the link between eating disorders and cultural differences.
I travel regularly and always combine travelling with the opportunities to attend International Book Fairs, contact International Publishers, authors and writers groups. Every time I am away in another country, I talk to people and continue my research about people’s eating habits and how these habits affect their mental state. It is what fascinates me.
My family:
I live in Canberra (Australia) with my daughter and husband.

Eating disorders are rooted in emotional struggles. These struggles are deep emotional conflicts within the sufferer, these are called self-conflicts. How the conflicts started in the first place? This process begins by fantasizing at a very early age. People fantasize a script, for example like a Hollywood production focusing on TV stars or other celebrities. Then they start rehearsing their part. As they go, they either give up on their initial part and take up a new one, or they practice the first part and role –play that script out until it becomes who they think they are.
