Perfectionism - Is it Keeping You Disorganized?
Perfectionism is defined by American Heritage dictionary as a propensity for being displeased with anything that is not perfect or does not meet extremely high standards. Perfectionism is a self-defeating behavior that is often disguised as a virtue. In fact, many non-perfectionists often wish they were more like those they see with “perfect” lives. The unfortunate thing is that dysfunctional perfectionists often live a tortured life in which nothing is ever good enough. One thing to keep in mind while reading this is that a little bit of perfectionism is a good thing at times.

How to Stop Wasting Time
"Waste Time Faster." This is a phrase on a billboard advertising high speed internet. I laugh each time I see it, but it also makes me think about how much time we do waste on the internet. Playing around online is just one of many activities we use to avoid getting things done. Of course, the things we are avoiding are usually things that may be difficult or not so pleasant. Avoidance behavior is a component of procrastination. Some causes of procrastination are task related anxiety, fear of failure, perfectionism, and lack of knowledge.

Is Self-Image Sabotaging Your Success?
While working with a client a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that she was repeatedly saying that she would never be able to do this organizing work without me. Now, I had heard this before, but this time I had some new information that made me stop to think what this really meant for her. A couple of months ago I was introduced to a program called “The Winner’s Image” produced by Bob Proctor. In the program Bob equates our self-image to the auto pilot feature of an airplane. The auto pilot is set to a certain course and corrects should the plane veer off course.

Favorite Quotes & Thoughts from Ellen Kramer
I believe anyone can learn to be organized. And it doesn't have to be painful because being organized is simply a state of mind. If you believe that you can be organized, you can. It's really about making a decision. It is a moment in time when you powerfully choose to be an organized person. Organized in your thoughts. Organized in your space. Organized in your work. Being organized is a state of mind.
In my research and studies I discovered an interesting thing about getting organized and being productive. While your physical space certainly contributes to chaos you feel, often there are more influential issues causing lack of productivity. I discovered that self-defeating behavior had more to do with lack of productivity than the physical environment.
Interestingly it was in this discovery that I truly realized my passion. I struggle with the anxiety, stress and lack of productivity caused by perfectionism and procrastination. It is now my mission to study the effects of these and other behaviors that cause people so much despair.
Over the years I have realized that what goes on in the mind is much more important to breakthrough than physical space issues. The physical space just supports you in your endeavors. It will eventually work itself out as you work out the self-defeating behaviors that are standing in your way.
