“Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life, but define yourself.” Harvey S. Firestone Bully: a blustering, quarrelsome, overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people .

I have told you about the bully in my life. I was amazed (although I don't know why I should have been) after I spent extra time in prayer that morning asking God to help me with this man, to find, when I arrived at work, him verbally pummeling a co-worker for something I had done. As I climbed the stairs to our offices, I could hear him ranting (OK, ranting might be a little excessive, but he was not happy) at her about what I had done with my committee and what he could do about it.

Psalm 37:5-6 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. It's been a rough few days! My bully was back. I knew that a permanent change was probably too much to ask for. I mean, when he admits to having these behaviors for thirty years, he's probably not going to change them in three weeks. I knew that but....hope springs ete al.

THE LITTLE CHILD I AM TODAY will always be within me, sending out feelings into my "grownup" mind. Time and experience may seem to bury him, but the child will be there. If I am now secure, feel loved, and little hurts are healed, in later years I'll feel down deep, not cries of fear and pain, but rather...songs. from Listen to my Feelings by Ruth Reardon

It started raining here two days ago...and it's still raining. Ah, springtime in the heartland! You've just got to love it! While it's raining here, if you travel two hours west you will drive into a blizzard; a good old, Nebraska blizzard. We'll get snow tonight. That's the great thing about early spring in the plains. You know that you will see a combination of weather, and sometimes you'll see them all in one day. You have to be prepared for anything this time of year. I love it!

For many years now, I have started each day by praying, or as I like to call it, my morning chat with God. As a part of that chat, I always pray the prayer of Jabez. I have found that it is a simple prayer to remember and has been tremendously effective for me. My days are better, my focus is better and I am truly blessed each day by God. My ritual is to write down this portion of my chat and then, periodically, I come back and read through what I have written and highlight those blessings that have been granted. My journal is full of yellow highlights from over the years.

The Seven Powers for Self Controlr Lesson 1: The Power of Perception No one can make you mad without your permissio It really is true that no one can make you angry without your permission. We all like to believe that someone outside of ourselves is responsible for the way we respond in any given situation, but the reality is, it is a choice that we make. It is so much easier not to take responsibility for our actions, but as we mature we understand that we must be responsible for what we do. We must set the example for our children so that we model for them the way they should be.

"I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.” Robert McCloskey

I am beginning another new venture. It's something I did, a very long time ago, but I enjoyed it and I think I will enjoy it again. It involved working with people of all ages so that makes it a good thing. It involves my faith, so that also makes it even better. It's not like I needed something to fill my time, because my time really is full with all the activities I have taken on over the past five or six months, but I needed a little something to bring in some money and this will do that very nicely. Another thing that I love added to the 'pot.' Life is really good!
