Frank Barnhill, M.D. practices family medicine in upstate South Carolina. Graduated from Wofford College and the Medical University of South Carolina, he is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine with additional training in Infant, Child and Adolescent Medicine, Urgent and Emergent Medicine, and Gerontology.

Dr. Frank is affectionately known as Dr. Huggie Bear, as a result of his habit of hugging all patients in what has been described as the most "feel-good" medical practice in America.

His interest in ADHD misdiagnosis goes back to the late 1980's when more and more kids were being diagnosed as ADHD and subsequently, increasing numbers of these children were being mislabeled as a result of other disorders confusing an accurate diagnosis.

Dr. Frank publishes two websites:

ADHDbehavior.com, dedictated to providing ADHD-Behavior Disorders information to prevent ADHD misdiagnosis by ensuring accurate diagnosis and treatment and

drhuggiebear.com, a general medical information site designed to help your family live long, healthy, successful lives.

Favorite Quotes & Thoughts from Frank Barnhill

By definition, ADHD is first a diagnosis of exclusion and only thereafter, a diagnosis of inclusion. We must first exclude all the disorders that might mimic or act just like ADHD and then be sure a child or adult has enough of the American Psychiatric Association symptoms to justify a diagnosis of ADHD.

We protect a child's future by ensuring the accurate and thorough evaluation of suspected ADHD prior to wrongful labeling.
