With a background in Psychology and Counselling I came across the incredibly intelligent and versatile mind technology that is NLP. After training in NLP and Clinical Hypnotherapy I worked in private practise with a number of GPs in Scotland. Having experienced anxiety as a result of a traumatic event my area of interest expanded from successfully treating my own anxiety to using the same process to help my clients to recover from their own anxious states. The success levels were surprisingly high and over time a replicable formula was developed through research into the fundamentals of neuroscience, NLP, Mindfulness and Meditation and some borrowings from the principles of CBT. This process now known as NPR, Neuro Psychological Reprogramming has become a widely used treatment for Anxiety in Scotland and is currently in the process of clinical study. The underlying premise of NPR is that Anxiety is a STATE, not a mental or psychological illness. States are created and can be uncreated and replaced with appropriate and useful ones, when you know how. NPR teaches you how to do this, incorporating the neuroscientific principles of neuroplasticity, the interaction of the frontal cortex and limbic brain and the understanding of the mind body connection. I would like to see a change in the way that Anxiety is perceived and managed, replacing the medical perspective with a better evolved and more permanent solution. Peace and equillibrium are the natural human state, NPR helps people to return to that place.

Making Friends with the Thought Monsters
Making Friends with the ‘Thought Monsters’ Yesterday one of my clients described her thoughts as ‘monstrous’. She had been having a really tough week and the thoughts her mind was generating felt as though they were tormenting her, frightening her, ruining the happiness she had been feeling and convincing her that she was the most useless unworthy person in the world. The problem wasn’t that her mind had been creating these ‘thought monsters’. The problem was that she was treating them as though they were real, true and accurate.
