Favorite Quotes & Thoughts from Ina Hillebrandt
Though I am disappointed to learn from experts on the lady that Dorothy Parker really did not utter this marvelous phrase, nonetheless, it stands as a mantra in my mind. I do not know of a writer, including myself, who doesn't have to "just do it" at times. Despite the fact that it's a gorgeous day outdoors, just screaming for a trip to the ocean, or a mate calls for a dance or something a little more enticing, or a friend calls to chat. Despite a nagging feeling that today isn't the right day, I'm just not in the mood. If I make a commitment to spend time at the computer or tablet, and keep it, something happens. It may start out to be drivel or worse, it may evolve into a good piece of writing. At the very least, it's a good start. And I can walk away when I'm done feeling satisfied and even euphoric, occasionally. Not to mention, immensely relieved to have met a deadline.
