About Indian Institute of Alte ative Medicine Distance Learning

Founded in 1991 Indian Board of Alte ative Medicines is an distance learning school that offers programs in alte ative medicine education including holistic nutrition, traditional naturopathy, natural health, oriental and chinese medicine, acupuncture, acupressure, reflexology, bach flower remedies and wellness. The school is a member of about 70 different organizations and affiliations tied to their mission. Admissions

Applicants must have graduated from high school or satisfactory completion of the GED. Home-schooled students will be evaluated through their portfolios. Bachelor’s level applicants may be eligible for life and work credit.

Previously earned college credits may be transferable to the school after evaluation. Graduate program applicants are required to submit transcripts validating completion of prerequisite degrees.

Practical / Clinical (Optional Program)

Practical/Clinical Training

A general course on the practical and clinical aspects of the medical profession is conducted by the institute every month and is strongly recommended for all the students & novice practitioners of any system medicine. The course consists of techniques and procedures of clinical examination of a patient such as physical examination through sighs, sym and various tests. The use of a stethoscope, sphygnometer (blood pressure instrument), thermometers, hot and cold bags, examination by instrument ear, nose, throat, tongue, rectum, eyes, heart, lungs etc. is also taught as laboratory investigation techniques for examining blood, urine, stool, semen etc. X-Ray findings, E.C.G. & B.B.G. ultrasonography, first aid, bandaging, artificial respiration, cardiac resuscitation and neurological tests.

Clinical Training Programme

This is a unique and essential training for learning the latest art and techniques of examining patients. The ideal course for all students and novice practitioners of any systems of medicine, one is taught how to check up the patients, conduct physical examinations, read laboratory reports, check the heart, liver, lungs, kidneys, pulse, and to use a stethoscope & blood pressure instruments etc.

The duration of this practical & clinical training programme, under the supervision of qualified and experienced doctors, is 7 days starting from the 5th of every month. A certificate is awarded to those who successfully complete the programme. Practitioners of any system of medicine and students are welcome to join the programme.

Practical Training Programme

Besides the clinical training programme, practical training in various alte ative therapies such as Acupressure, Magneto therapy, Reflexology, Bach Flower Remedies, Yoga, Massage etc. is also held every month. An intensive training of 7 days duration starting from the 5th of every month, this course provides an introduction to the therapy and knowledge about its practical aspects and application.
