What are people thinking? Here's another take on the 99 to 1 proposition. The vast majority spend their time thinking about the wrong stuff. Whereas, the elite minority think and do things differently. As many put forth a belief in redistributing wealth, how about a redistribution of knowledge. Earl Nightingale wrote it, said it, repeated it a gazillion times, "We become what we think about." Today's world presents an alarming wakeup call and quite frankly a massive opportunity. The internet provides us with measurable insight never before available.

Oh, the joy of humming along with those great songs, the hits, wonderfully re-mastered instrumental versions, especially the electronic tonal beats that play over and over through the filtered telephone interface as we wait for the service attendant to finally click on and tell us the conversation will be recorded for training purposes. That begs the question, "What customer satisfaction training are you guys doing?"

Action avoidance. Doesn't that sound right up there with restless leg syndrome and other maladies we have thrown at us in the latest barrage of commercials? It is a more perverse disease that plagues millions of wannabes huddled amongst their excuses at the bottom of the ladder. Action avoidance. The plague of the sales person that hates making a cold call, the downfall of the latest resolution to exercise, the fear of approaching the one that may be the love of your life, the blame about the tough economic times all add to the journal of reasons to avoid action.

When that bolt of lightning hits and the idea to revolutionize the way people live comes to you and you know in your heart that this is it. The big idea. It's the moment you've dreamed of and you can't wait to count the rewards, buy that big house, fill the garage with expensive sports cars, boats, and that Harley that surely will make you too cool for all the hot babes. You feel ready to bet the farm, go for broke and risk it all like some stupefied poker player that just rolled into Vegas on a sure fire winning streak.

My son-in-law is a very impressive guy. He's a decorated Lt.Col. in the Marines. Imagine how tough you have to be, to be a Marine ... much less earning such a high rank at a young age. When we first met I asked why he joined the corps. Without hesitation he answered, "It's a calling." Wow. Not a job, or career, but a calling. How fortunate to do something you love and were meant to do. And, how fortunate for the rest of us that young men and women hear that calling and rise to the occasion. But, what about other ways to make a living?

Once upon a time there were tricks of the trade. If you have been in sales for anytime the lure and attraction of securing the best list of guaranteed questions with tie-downs has most likely been thrown at you. Today, if you rely on the ancient trades banter, you will not sell, you won't even get in the door. Don't believe me? Try this. Walk up to anyone and say the following script, "If I can get you anything you want for nearly nothing, you'd be interested, right?"
