When we think of Bruce Lee, what comes to mind is a uniquely special martial artist who was on top of his game compared to his contemporaries. In other words, his combat methods were far away superior to other practitioners, and there's a good reason why. Although I'm not advocating martial arts here, I will look at Bruce's philosophical approach to training, which was, shall we say, unique. It's also what made him the best of the best.

It's surprising how outdated some training methods still are today, what with all the new advances in techniques. Gyms usually have rows of machines, but this type of training lends itself to slow muscle building, not rapid fat loss. So the average person hopes a brisk walk on the treadmill or the elliptical machine will do the job. But it doesn't and he/she never significantly changes their physique. Adding some spice to your foods may do more than give them a kickin' flavour, they may also give a subtle boost to your metabolism. New research indicates that spices, including turmeric and cinnamon, may help in the fight to lose excess body weight. A Penn State University study shows that high calorie meals increase levels of blood triglycerides. Tests revealed that as little as 2 tablespoons of spices per meal resulted in a drop in insulin response by 20% due to antioxidants in the spices. This, researchers stated, facilitated weight loss by 30%.

When you want to lose weight, a very low-calorie diet often seems to be the most attractive approach. After all, the faster you lose weight the better, right? Not a chance. Low calorie diets, especially those under 1200 calories a day are at best short-lived attempts at dieting, and at worst recipes for long term health problems.

The news is in and it's not pretty. It seems that cozy and upholstered chair at home or place of work, may be bad for us. Yes, even the height adjusted and ergonomic variety has not escaped the scrutiny of modern science. Some employees (even the self-employed) have to sit for up to 31 of 40 hours a week; 46 if working a 60-hour week. And here's the kicker. Even if you participate in daily exercise after work, the risks may not be mitigated. Scientists are linking prolonged, uninterrupted sitting to being a health hazard of and by itself, akin to smoking.

Even with the explosion of coffee houses around the country, this company has risen head and shoulders above the competition.

According to life expectancy statistics, we're living longer than any time in history. In fact, in less than a century, approximately 30 years seem to have been added to our collective life spans. This creation of old age is said to be the most important adaptive change the human species has ever witnessed. By itself, this information is enough to make the head spin. But now experts also state that we may be nearing the time when science will double the lifespan of humans. A breathtaking scenario, were it not couched solidly in fantasy.
