Howdy,

I’m Josh Sanders (“The Professor”), the Founder of Shiloh Street and http://www.ShilohStreetUniversity.com. It’s always nice to put a person behind a company so let me give you a little background on what we’re all about and who I am.

Since the age of 21, I’ve been in the mortgage and real estate business. For some odd reason, I started studying real estate and marketing when I was 17 years old. I think I first knew I had that “entrepreneurial spirit” when I was selling baseball cards on my front lawn at 7 years of age and giving a cut to my friend if he sold anything. :)

I started out my career as a mortgage broker and eventually transitioned to the real estate side of things while living in Seattle, WA.

To be honest with you, what I enjoy most about the real estate industry is not doing deals. Yea, it’s fun to see the homes and work with clients but what I really love is the marketing that goes into it! Marketing in general is just a TON of fun!

The “funny” thing is that as an agent, if you’re not good at marketing, the money won’t flow in. It’s actually not very “funny” but most agents I know, and have worked with, don’t even realize how vital successful marketing is to their businesses; hence the 80%+ attrition rate in the industry.:(

So in January 2010, I launched our real estate brokerage, Shiloh Street, in Kirkland, WA.

As a “sister site” to Shiloh Street, I wanted to develop a marketing “University” where every Realtor or agent in the country could come and get step-by-step tutorials, video lessons, advice, information, articles, tips and ideas on how to market their real estate business better. So not long after we launched our real estate brokerage, “Shiloh Street University” was born and grows more and more every day!

You’ll notice how the “style” of Shiloh Street University is a bit unique. When I develop the tutorials or write a new post for our blog, I don’t write like the normal suit and tie “professional” does. I write very much in the same way I’d speak to you face-to-face. I don’t like formalities, for the most part, so I like to keep things real and personable. Makes it more fun too. :)

Oh, also, my wife of almost 7 years is a former pro-boxer/kicker boxer turned real estate appraiser. Yes, really. :) But looking at her, you’d think she was a super model! She’s awesome.

I’ll say “we” have 4 dogs and 3 ferrets even though it’s my wife who’s the real animal lover. :)

We live just outside Seattle, WA and put up with rain and clouds for 8 months of year just to see the sun for a couple days in the summer. But the summers ARE fantastic.

Anyway, that’s me and Shiloh Street and http://ShilohStreetUniversity.com in a nutshell. Drop us a note anytime and enjoy the site!

What's the initial thought that pops in your head when someone talks to you about a referral letter marketing method for Realtors? I'll give you a clue; it's not about solicting testimonials from all your former clients. That's a good Realtor marketing thought too. Although, I'm talking about getting a constant stream of client referrals from professionals like CPA's, mortgage brokers, financial planners, atto eys and contractors.
