The 5 Qualities of Great Salespeople
The difference between runaway business success and mediocrity often comes down to sales. Yes, you need a great product that uniquely addresses a market need. You need operations and manufacturing teams that can execute. However in the competitive world of complex “solution selling,” the difference between a great product either sitting on the shelf or getting designed into a successful project often sits with the sales team.

How Meditation Will Increase Your Success
Do salespeople meditate? I asked myself this question recently and as I contemplated I realized there had to be more business people meditating than just me. I’m not THAT special. Or was I? After all, I WAS living in San Francisco, a mecca for all things spiritual, new age and psychedelic.

4 Fears Salespeople Face
As a salesperson early in my career, I recall nights as I attempted to drift off to sleep, thoughts scrambling around in my head about the day. I would toss and turn as I worried about things I had done wrong that day while obsessing about doing the right things after I woke up the next day. Was my customer about to choose my competitor? Where was I missing business? Had I pissed anyone off? Lord knows, sales people have it rough at times.

3 Steps to Building Customer Trust
Building a lasting relationship with your customers is beyond important, especially in the age of information. More than ever customers have access to information about your products, yet they still want to buy from people they trust. How important is trust to YOU when you buy? The more a customer trusts you, the more they’ll be willing to go to bat for you internally, refer you to other customers, and risk investing large amounts of money in your products and services.

Quit Wasting Your Time: 4 Questions to Accelerate Your Success
Time management systems are all over the place these days… and with good reason. If you can maximize your time and focus on the right areas, you’ll hit your goals faster and have more time for your personal life. Since the late 1990’s, I’ve read a shelf full of books on time management, listened to dozens of hours of time management audio learning, and read multiple articles on the subject. I’ve used a variety of time management systems including Franklin-Covey and David Allen’s “Getting Things Done.” I’ve used PC software like Microsoft Outlook, Smartphones, and paper-based planners.

6 Strategies for Getting Past the Gatekeeper: Part 1 of 2
Ahh the dreaded gatekeeper. For most salespeople, gatekeepers just might be the most emotionally frustrating and professionally challenging of all sales encounters. They can say “no” but they can rarely say “yes” to a value-oriented relationship with you. While getting to the decision maker sounds straightforward, in reality it can be tough!

Gatekeepers, whether we love them or hate them, are a part of sales life. There is no magic pill as each gatekeeper is different and each situation demands a customized approach. In Part 1 of this series, I outlined the first three strategies for getting past the gatekeeper and mentioned two important steps to take before you design your gatekeeper approach. What do we do?
I work with the client assess the client’s current style, strengths and ways of being in the topic at hand. Based on the desired outcome(s) I then build a customized coaching program geared around seeing new possibilities and then building new capacities to develop this new way of being.
How is my approach different?
Integral Coaching is highly effective and creates sustainable “embodied” change. Unlike many other coaching methods, once the coach is gone the change sticks. Integral Coaching uses multiple assessment tools which leverage the client’s unique values, beliefs and strengths in creating a powerful, customized program to affect change in the topic at hand. It is based on state-of-the-art adult developmental models and combines the self-awareness of existing habits with the “muscle” building of new capacities to grow into a new way of being. Rather than looking simply at financial results or human performance in isolation, Integral Coaching® addresses the underlying dynamics of human development and ways of being.
How are these services delivered?
I offer different modules customized to the client, from half-day coaching sessions to full 12-month development programs. The length is primarily based on the size and scope of the topic (the goal of the program) and the developmental objectives of the client.
How will I know if the coaching is working?
I work with the client to determine required outcomes and developmental objectives. These objective are reviewed periodically and results are discussed between the coach and client. Typically clients start becoming aware of existing limiting behavioral patterns after the 2nd session, and start seeing new capacities and skills as soon as the 3rd or 4th session. It depends on various factors including the level of engagement of the client, the behaviors being changed and the length of time. Often the clients colleagues will notice the change before the client as development is not something that one can see in oneself until it is embodied and practiced enough.
Who does EvoLeadership Coaching work with?
I primarily work with corporate executives, managers, salespeople, and individual contributors. My background is in sales and engineering in the technology sector.
Other highlights
Do you feel you’ve reached your highest potential or do you feel like there’s room for improvement? Are you truly operating at full capacity?
For most sales professionals, striving for high achievement and reaching for new heights are daily challenges. When I ask my clients the question, “Are you operating at your highest potential every day?” most people say they’re operating at only 20-50%. If this sounds familiar, perhaps like so many others:
- You want to create the highest levels of value for your customers and your company, but find that you’re constantly overwhelmed by emails and distractions…
- You want to have more influence and more executive relationships, but feel your credibility and ability to demonstrate value is limited…
- You’re ready to go for a bigger role or responsibility, but you just don’t know how to take the next step…
- Your sales role is going well, but you’re burned out…something is still missing and you want to figure out what it is…
- You’re overwhelmed by the 80% “unimportant” stuff and want to focus on what’s strategic…
- You’re under-supported to take your career in a new and positive direction, despite having a good manager and supportive colleagues.
Whatever your situation, deep down you probably know there could be more. More value. More energy. More influence. More impact.
What if you could raise your energy and productivity levels by 20%? What if you could increase the number of influential relationships you have at your key customers? What kind of impact would this make in your business, in your income and in your life?
