I'm a Hong Kong-based Australian marketing consultant & coach, editor and copywriter, with 30 years' experience. My background is in arts and tourism marketing, although I've worked with clients in a wide variety of industries. I specialise in writing/editing all sorts of English-language marketing communications material (ads, brochures, website text, newsletters, articles, press releases...), and I coach and advise my clients about their marketing strategies.
I especially enjoy working with female small business owners, particularly service providers such as consultants, coaches, healers and entertainers.
I'm also a popular public speaker and trainer - I present corporate and public seminars about marketing, copywriting and media relations.
In Hong Kong, I'm a member of the Women in Publishing Society, the Women Business Owners Club, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and the Entrepreneurs Club.
Oh, and by the way, I'm also a bodyworker/healer (I trained in a methodology called Body Harmony) and I'm passionate about personal/spiritual development. And I'm a keen actor, singer and stand-up comedian.

So What Is Marketing Anyway?
The word "marketing" means many different things to different people. It can mea "selling", or "advertising", or "publicity", or "market research", or "customer service", or "PR". A common negative perception of marketing is that it's just "a sleazy technique of manipulating people to make them ...

Favorite Quotes & Thoughts from Kay Ross
"The purpose of marketing is to sell more stuff." I love that quote by Sergio Zyman, the former global marketing boss for The Coca-Cola Company. And your "stuff" can be anything: your products, services, ideas...
Another one of my favourite quotes is from the book "The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing" by Al Ries and Jack Trout: "Many people think marketing is a battle of products... It's an illusion. There is no objective reality. There are no facts. There are no best products. All that exists in the world of marketing are perceptions in the minds of the customer or prospect. The perception is the reality... Marketing is the process of dealing with those perceptions."
My own definition of marketing is:
Marketing = managing perceptions, motivations and expectations.
To me, marketing isn't necessarily about printing a glossy brochure, building a whizz-bang website and putting ads in the newspaper - it's EVERYTHING you do that influences people's perceptions, motivations and expectations. And whether you like it or not, everything you do DOES influence people's perceptions, motivations and expectations.
I like to think that it's possible to do marketing with heart, soul and integrity, because marketing is about people helping people. I'm a keen actor, singer and stand-up comedian, and I'm passionate about personal/spiritual development - I find that all three areas of my life (Marketing, Performing and Healing) enhance each other and help me serve my clients better.
