Heart-Centered Career Transition and Job Search Coach to Burnt-Out Teachers Who Are Ready for a Career Change
Kitty Boitnott, Ph.D., NBCT, RScP is the founder of Boitnott Coaching, LLC and TeachersI Transition.com. Kitty offers professional and personal coaching services to teachers who are burnt-out and ready to leave the teaching profession for a new career.
Kitty created Boitnott Coaching, LLC because she is keenly aware of the fact that teachers in the United States—in every state in the nation—are feeling bombarded by adverse circumstances. They are dealing with stagnant salaries, and many are working in deteriorating environments. They are tired of struggling with diminishing respect in the community and their students.
Kitty also recognizes that about 50% of the current education workforce is fast approaching retirement age and yet they are not going to want to quit working, so they need to consider how to re-tool and reinvent themselves professionally for the next phase of their lives.
Kitty is a former teacher and educational leader with over 30 years in the classroom as a teacher and library media specialist. She has always committed herself to the highest professional standards. Her accomplishments include having earned two Master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership in addition to having achieved National Board Certification in Library Media.
In addition to her academic achievements, Kitty is a Certified Life Strategies and Stress Management Coach with additional certifications in Holistic Life Coaching and Sleep Science Coaching. She is also a Licensed Science of Mind Practitioner and Minister. You can learn more about her by perusing her website which can be found at https://teachersintranssition.com.
Kitty lives in the Richmond, Virginia area less than two hours from Washington, DC with her longhaired dachshund, Be ie.
Kitty is a member of the National Speakers Association of Virginia and is a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) in Toastmasters International.

***Finding a Job You Can Love
George Burns once said, "I'd rather be a failure at something I love than successful at something I hate." I suspect that many of us would agree with him, but unfortunately, too many people feel stuck in jobs that, if they don't actually hate them, they don't love them, either. In fact, a June 2013 Gallup poll revealed that an alarming 70% of those surveyed either hate their jobs or are completely disengaged with regard to their performance on them.

***Feeling Overwhelmed? You Are Not Alone
Overwhelm. Many of us are feeling it more and more frequently, and it is affecting us more and more everyday. We are clearly overwhelmed with information on a daily basis. News on multiple television channels is delivered to us 24 hours 7 days a week. We have the Internet that is both a servant and a master for some of us. I don’t know about you, but I could easily spend hours a day following threads of discussion on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr and other forms of social media.

***You Get to Choose
Sometimes, I believe, some of us actually like to consider ourselves victims. After all, being a victim of circumstance allows us to blame others or outside situations for the more unpleasant conditions in our lives. "He gave me no choice," we like to complain when telling our friends about dilemma we are facing, whether it be on the job or at home. "What choice did I have?" we sometimes whine plaintively when looking for validation, as we stay stuck in some situation that needs to be addressed.

***Are You a Multi-Tasker?
Are you one of those people who really believe that you can multi-task and do it well? Can you listen to your children complain about their day while you are cooking dinner with half of your attention on your children and half on what you are doing at the stove? Or perhaps you are a multi-tasker at work. You find yourself checking email while you are on the phone listening to a client or a vendor make an offer that you really can’t refuse…except you aren’t positive what exactly the offer entails since you were responding to an email from your boss about your latest project.

***Time
Time...we refer to it all of the "time." For instance, in games, we call for a "time out." At work, we refer to "time for a break" or "break time." At school, we look forward to "recess time." Summer is a "time for vacation." We sometimes refer to recreational time as "party time." In the Bible, there is a reference to "time for all seasons." In fact, the full text goes like this: "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,r

***The Art of Self-Care
I have been talking about self-care a lot as I conduct my workshops on stress management. As far as I can see, stress management relies most heavily on our ability to practice self-care, so I ask you to consider: How good are you at practicing self-care?

***Are You Sleep Deprived?
Do you ever feel that sleep is a luxury that you can't afford? Most of us don't get the sleep we need in order to perform at our optimum level. That means that most of us are mildly to severely sleep-deprived much of the time. We tell ourselves that we don't have time to sleep. There is too much to do! You can catch up on the weekend. The trouble is that not getting the sleep you need during the week can cause health consequences of which you may be unaware, and in this case what you don't know CAN hurt you.

Favorite Quotes & Thoughts from Kitty Boitnott
WHAT I DO:
For the teacher who has already hit the point of burnout, I offer career transition and job search assistance. Talented teachers have many other career alte
atives available to them that they may not know how to explore on their own.
I also offer training on stress management for teachers. Helping teachers learn how to manage stress may help them avoid job burnout. If they do that, they will stay in the profession longer.
WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT:
I enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a public school educator. I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I understand teachers. I know what makes them tick. I know the struggle they face when they start to consider leaving. It is an internal battle that often leaves them unhappy and stuck...sometimes for years.
WHAT OTHERS SAY:
A recent successful client said:

"Dr. Boitnott centers her workshop from not only her studies but real life experiences which provide you with insightful and thought-provoking ideas to handle your stress-related problems such as prioritizing your issues and discarding those which impede your ultimate goals and objectives." - Mitch C.
