I began working with children with early onset bipolar disorder in 1995 and was astonished at the lack of information available on treating and diagnosisng this disorder in children. Since that time, research and evidenced based work has conitnued to grow. During the last 15 years I have devoted myself to learning how to understand this illness and how it begins and evolves. I also specialize in child and adolescent anxiety disorders and this becomes helpful because of the overlap of anxiety disorders and high level of fear of harm to self we see in children with bipolar disorder. I have been working on developing a manual for parents based in philosphies rooted in mindfulness act and commitment therapy. I created and run a local support group that has been in existence for six years in my local community.
