I have been playing basketball as long as I can remember. My playing experience includes playing at Liberty University a Division 1 school where I was a 1,000 point scorer and ranked the 19th best shooter in the country my Sr. year. I have also played professionally in Spain. Most recently I have coached a high school team on the national level where we beat the 12th ranked team in the nation. However my biggest passion is basketball skill development. That is why I have been a part of starting BasketballHQ.com. My site offers basketball training and coaching resources for players, coaches, parents, and basketball enthusiasts.

How to Shoot a Basketball
Being a good shooter or even a great shooter requires a lot of time in the gym practicing. However even spending hours and hours of practice shooting a basketball does not guarantee that you will be a good shooter. I am sure that we have all heard the statement, "practice makes perfect." Unfortunately this statement is false. When I was younger a coach of mine said, "practice doesn't make perfect, it makes permanent. But perfect practice, makes perfect." If you practice doing something the wrong way it doesn't matter how much time you put into it, because it is always going to be wrong.

How to Dribble a Basketball for Beginners
Being able to dribble a basketball can drastically improve your game and add value to you as a player. Anyone can dribble the ball with no one around them and looking down at the ball but this is not enough if you want to become a good player. If you are busy looking down at the ground while you are dribbling you are not able to see the play happening in front of you. As a young player it is important to practice dribbling without looking down at the ball.
