Don't Get Mad, Get Glad
Last evening, as I was reading, with my 13 year old son, Spencer, from the book Spiritual Economics by Eric Butterworth, we entered into a delicious dialogue on the meaning of resistance. We were reading a passage that says, to realize prosperity, you must accept the responsibility of your own thoughts, which is how you can take charge of your life. I have shared the teachings of The Power of Awareness with probably a thousand folks by now, and I have gained a clear understanding of how the mind works.

We’re going to Disney World! A Guide to Practical Spirituality
I am all about making the complicated simple. My life shifted when I realized that my mind loves to complicate things. It was just programmed that way. Early on in childhood, to feel special and rewarded, I liked to solve complicated problems. My mind, being the powerful tool that it is, makes everything complicated, so I experience the high of feeling special and rewarded. Yet seeking the next high is what keeps me from experiencing what I really want.

Confused & Between Jobs
Dear Laina, You are in my thoughts and words almost daily and your guidance at POA is helping me change my life, present moment by present moment. Thank you! At the moment, I am taking steps to leave my current employer (albeit baby steps). I do appreciate the good things it provides such as money, experience and interaction with some positive people. But I am honestly struggling with the perceived "attacks" to my person, by the negativity and mental abuse, duplicity, from controlling individuals at work.

Spiritual Olympics
I am really enjoying watching the Winter Olympics. It’s fascinating to watch these young athletes do what they love to do; I can feel their passion in my own body. I am so inspired by their commitment and determination to live out their dreams NOW! As I watch these Olympics unfold, I see the parallel between achieving Olympic Gold and reaching the summit of spirituality: Enlightenment. It simply amazes me how life provides us with so many mirrors. Every one of us is born with the purpose of bringing the world a gift.

Loosen Up Your Buttons Babe, Uh-huh!
Ok, so I can't sing like the all girl band, The Pussycat Dolls, but what is in this message is just as "hot" as the song with the above title. Over the past four years as I coach and facilitate The Power of Awareness programs, I've noticed a consistent theme. When folks go into justification mode, they love to proclaim in their loud and proud voice "so and so pushed my buttons!" Now, when I hear this, and after I've chuckle inside, I state, in my very professional and coach like manner, show me your buttons!

Love or Fear Think of love and fear as day and night. Now imagine the sun representing love and the night representing fear. It's a simple analogy, and one, that if you allow yourself to be open to its deepest truth, could induce a major shift in your consciousness.
