Veteran teacher, parent, grandparent, and mentor articulates specific, doable strategies honed over 40 years to bring out the best in others. Laura reveals the missing piece: teachers, parents, managers, receive NO TRAINING on how to mentor to inspire others to do their best.

Laura was born the eldest of 4 children to a working-class poor family (Anglo father, Latina mother). She grew up in trailer parks, but graduated as Valedictorian, Senior class president, Editor of the Yearbook, Head Cheerleader. She is listed in Who's Who of American High School Students. She attended university on full scholarship and graduated summa cum laude with Distinction in English, and selected to Phi Beta Kappa. Laura has taught in grades K-12, as well as at an Alte ative High School. She managed a 150 head cattle ranch while raising her sons for 10 years. She earned her Diploma in Curriculum and Instruction from UBC while working full-time and raising teenagers. She earned her Master's degree in Leadership and Administration from Gonzaga U.

"This year I'm teaching a granddaughter of one of my first students! My former students are FB friends and invite me to stay in their homes or vacation homes. Some phone, some email, or stop me on the street to ask advice about their children or their lives. It feels good to love and serve so many and to know I made a positive difference in their lives.

Now I'm on a mission to help others learn specific, doable strategies used by the world's best mentors to bring out the best in others. How can I help and serve you?"

Favorite Quotes & Thoughts from Laura Pickering

I believe the most positive impact any human being can have for others is to mentor them to become their personal best. A mentor knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. A mentor encourages and inspires; they don't manipulate or threaten. A true mentor has another's best interest at heart; no hidden agenda.
