Favorite Quotes & Thoughts from Linda Senn

From my book, And Now We Dance: Jou aling for the Woman Within

· The story of the kindly gesture you offered yesterday to a passerby may have already been retold a dozen times. · The shortest distance between a question and its answer is the straight story.. · …humans are perfect in their complexity and combinations of strengths and weaknesses, not in the absence of flaws. · A broken bone must be set, but a broken spirit too often must fend for itself.

From my book, The Many Faces of Jou aling: Topics & Techniques for Personal journal Writing

· It's hard to let go of our rage until we allow ourselves to acknowledge it.· Through ... jou aling, we can honor what was, what is, and what is yet to be.· ... that which is viewed as a burden seldom becomes a joy.

Quotations from other sources

· “The simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful than a thousand heads bowing in prayer.”
~ Mahatma Gandi

· “Find a subject you care about and which you in your heart feel others should care about.” ~ Kurt Vonnegut [Never write on a subject on which you don’t feel real passion.]

· “Your audience is one single reader. I have found that sometimes it helps to pick out one real person you know, or an imagined person, and write to that one.” ~ John Steinbeck

· “Look for clutter in your writing and prune it ruthlessly. Be grateful for everything you can throw away. Re-examine each sentence that you put on paper. Is every word doing new work? Can any thought be expressed with more economy? Is anything pompous or pretentious or faddish? Are you hanging on to something useless just because you think it’s beautiful?” ~ William Zinsser

How to get started

Read the writing articles on my web site www.PenCentralOnline.com and divorce articles on www.DivorceTransitions.com to best understand my life outlook and personal philosophy.

Helping others seems to be my life purpose, through my books, my coaching (book, divorce and balanced-life coaching), writing to help and inform, teaching and facilitating small mutual support groups. My experience, knowledge and compassionate support are a huge help to those who are contemplating or going through divorce, as is my informative website www.DivorceTransitions.com. I'm also a traditional Reiki Master-Teacher with 10 years' experience in both teaching and practicing the gentle, healing art of Reiki. To encourage others to honor the Reiki traditions, I wrote a complete "Usui Reiki Teaching Guide" and the three student manuals to use with it. (See the Books section of my www.PenCentralOnline.com.)
