If you have landed here, it's not a coincidence - it is grace. I can absolutely help you. If you want to hire a mentor who really "gets it," read on.
You may come to me to work on eating-related issues, but I promise you that at heart, this is your gateway into a profound and transformative spiritual journey that will allow you to call up the places inside where your core issues want to be healed.
And yes, the issues around food and weight will resolve too!
A bit of professional background:
I've worked with women and teens for almost 25 years.
I was trained clinically at a Harvard Medical teaching hospital and spent many years there honing my skills as a psychotherapist. I worked in other clinics, including a state prison for women on their Psychiatric Crisis Team. Since 1998 I have been in full time private practice from my beautiful home office.
I am a holistic, intuitive psychotherapist - I have integrated all of the clinical, and alte
ative medicine and energy-healing practices into my work with clients. I use guided imagery and relaxation healing, energy-healing, therapeutic writing, and work with human energy system of the chakras. My Intuitive Body approach is potent, going way beyond simple "talk therapy," which doesn't allow you to clear out the energies and beliefs that are being "held" in your body.
My professional background includes a B.A. in Psychology from Connecticut College in 1979, a Masters in Clinical Social Work (MSW) from Boston College. I also received advanced training and certification in EMDR (a specialized treatment for people with trauma histories). Additionally, I spent four years studying energy healing honing my Intuitive abilities.
I am a voracious reader and learner - I have always loved discovering new things to support my own growth, and that of my women and teen clients.
I actively seek whatever is on the cutting edge so that you get the best of what's available from energy-medicine, metaphysics, science, nutrition, exercise physiology, psychology, and my own experiences to provide you with the most powerful support and information.
I'm a mother to Luke and Nicky, my teenage sons, and since 2006, married to my husband Andy. We live in an 1850's farmhouse with a heated barn, beautiful land, in a small town in Massachusetts next to a magnificent apple orchard. I adore my five Yorkshire terriers Campbell, Sailor, Violet, Daisy, and Pansy.
I love to walk, to write, plant herbs and annuals, read recipe books and sometimes entertain friends and family. My own weight fluctuates, and although sometimes that's challenging, it helps me remain curious about where I am balanced or not in my own life.
I practice everything I teach with daily rituals that support me and keep me healthy and inspired. Everything I share with clients I have done myself.
I have a life that is rich and I count my blessings daily. I am honored to do this life-changing work with others who are drawn to me. If my story speaks to you, you are probably a good match for the Intuitive Body approach.
I love hearing from you by email or phone. I try to be accessible whenever possible.
I wish you great peace, freedom, and every blessing-

The Big Lie
It's incredibly hard to find a way of being at peace with food. More than anything, the women and teens I talk with want to find a sense of peace, away from the relentless obsessions with food and weight.

How to End Sugar Addiction - Detox From Junk Food
I commit to removing sugar and flour products from my diet, starting immediately. There is no doubt in my mind that making changes to my food in this way impacts my life, energy, mood, mental acuity and relationships- not to mention my own wellness and well being, more than any other choice I can make. I've done it before, and the results are dramatic and worth it.

Where Healing Really Lives - Not Always Where You Think
I've been working with women and their bodies and their eating stuff for a looooooong time now- 25 years to be exact. And I've had my own very real ups and downs around the same issues. Here's what I've found from all of this. Healing the shame is what changes everything else. Overall, that's pretty much where we all suffer. And shame by nature is something we squirrel away, we don't talk about it, so it never gets a good airing out. It gets all musty and crusty and becomes even more shameful and hard to look at from that hidden place.

What's Your "Bare Minimum" (to protect yourself from overeating?)
We love lofty. We love big huge plans of self-sacrifice and sweeping changes. We love thinking of all of this and writing it down- we get an instant hit of relief when we plan ways that we are going to master our ways of eating or binging. Remember when you used to feel better just from watching Jane Fonda videos... from the couch? Planning is like that. We get the relief from the thinking about it and making charts and graphs and lists and feel better, without having to DO a thing.

How Are You Perpetuating Deprivation?
Where are you depriving yourself? Take a look at places where you're being cheap, stingy, or witholding the good stuff with yourself. I find that there is a powerful connection between overeating and other ways you are keeping yourself in deprivation and lack. I see so many of my clients (and my women friends) being incredibly generous and nurturing to virtually everyone... but themselves.

You Can't Go Head-to-Head With The Food
In case you don't know this, I am NOT a diet coach. I am not a substitute for Weight Watchers or anything like it, we don't speak the same language, we are from different planets. Seriously. I am not a main stream girl and neither are my clients, most of the time. There is nothing wrong with main-stream, but what I share via Intuitive Body is uh.. a little different from that. Anyways- I have always known that if you feel like you can't stop eating, that trying to force you to stop eating or cajole you into stopping eating is really not going to work.

Favorite Quotes & Thoughts from Lisa Claudia Briggs
"Choosing to work with Lisa was one of the best and kindest-to-myself decisions I’ve made in a long time. She is truly a gifted guide and wayshower on this intimate journey. As anyone who has struggled with disordered eating understands, it’s never just about the food and our relationship with it. It’s about healing and making peace and setting boundaries and nurturing yourself and finding ways to honor who you are in every moment, and a whole myriad of other things. We all looking for ways to be fully ourselves, nurtured and nourished. And when we’re in the place where clearly the old things we’ve been doing don’t work and bring us more pain than peace, then we’re ready for this journey.
"Lisa’s program is truly unlike anything else available I’ve ever seen – it’s multi-modal; and truly addresses the WHOLE YOU. There are certainly practical results to be had; behavior and eating changes that truly are nurturing and supportive as opposed to depriving and restrictive, and that are entirely personalized. But there's so much more, and so many different and helpful approaches and resources she offers. Visioning, jou aling, flower essence support, working with bilateral sound programs, guided meditations, energy work – the list is endless and she’s always offering lovely and helpful surprises. Working with her is both grounding and expansive.
"But it’s Lisa herself that brings the magic to it all. She’s truly brilliant, and brings so much to the table with her blending of skills as psychotherapist and intuitive. She is so encouraging; so full of resources; so ready and able to support you towards the vision you hold for yourself. For me she's provided lots of hand-holding support during the difficult pieces; witnessing my journey; reminding me of my vision when it felt out of sight; always offering helpful strategies and support. But she also brings a totally refreshing lightness to this work – helping make it fun, and playful, and exciting. Her intuitive skills are simply wonderful. She's so consistently tapped in, and that's so helpful& in this process.
"Certainly it is a big financial commitment; but SO worth it in my opinion. It's meant to& be a serious commitment – truly changing how you are with yourself necessitates true commitment and work. But everything I've received has far exceeded the money I've spent. I feel a thousand times better about myself; I have lots of new skills and tools to use and I'm using them; and every day I am nearer to the vision of myself I created when I began working with Lisa. And there's no doubt I'll get there. I am enormously grateful to Lisa. This journey has been one of the best gifts I've given myself." ~ Deborah, Chicago

How to get started
If You're Feeling Obsessed with Eating, Out-of-Control With Food, Craving Relief From Binge-Eating....
You're probably part of my "tribe"-the women I really love working with and who get the most powerful results from this approach.
Does this sound like you?
*Some part of you has always felt a little "different".You may hold your own really well out in the world, but you have always had a sense that you are not a "main stream girl"
*You're successful at LOTS of things, yet define yourself around weight and eating issues
*You are highly attuned to the emotional energies of others, probably very intuitive, and just "know" things
*You may be a bit of a loner as this helps you stay centered more easily
And if you relate to these, you'll get some real results:
You're good at many things just don't have this eating thing down yet
You're open to new things, and sense on a gut level that this is the place for you
You're ready to invest in yourself, on every level and to pay for results
You accept that you deserve some attention, and are ready to take your needs off the back burner
You're ready to accept support to create the kind of real balance overall that will let you soar in whatever ways you feel ready.
You know that solid results don't come easy and are open to being asked to take small, good-feeling actions (sort of like you can' get fit from watching exercise videos from the couch)
You might be willing to trust that I can see your unique beauty and talents and let me help you start to put those out there!
You have an adventurous spirit, see that this could actually be fun, know that this ain't no diet, and see that change has the potential to feel really exciting.
