After a childhood with a severe neurological condition, and having not completed the ninth grade, Lora Morrow went on to graduate with her Bachelor of Science (magna cum luade)in Psychology and then her Master of Science (summa cum laude) in Health Psychology. She is presently only her thesis short of her Ph.D. (also at a summa cum laude level, so far).
Ms. Morrow has about 15 years experience in counseling, having begun as a peer counselor long before entering college. She has since lectured to police and fire departments and schools on handling special cases (epilepsy, schizophrenia, diabetes, etc.) and has written articles on related subjects. She was nominated by the Red Cross in 2000 as an American Hero. Her self-stated quest is to reach out to as many people as possible and help them to improve their lives.
Although she has many success stories, Ms. Morrow lists her most successful client as herself. In her mid-twenties, tests revealed her as having damage throughout 65% of her brain. Today, thorough testing has shown that damage virtually gone, and so are her seizures, several years removed now. Her clients further include (but are not limited to) the likes of an adolescent boy debilitated with severe schizophrenia, who today is about ready to graduate from college; a 36-year-old autistic man who had never spoken, whom she had speaking after 90 days of therapy; and a quadriplegic young man, who had been hit by a drunken driver, whom she had walking after a period of about two years. Ms. Morrow attributes her successes to her unique Positive Personal Modification Therapy.
Ms. Morrow presently Directs her Positive Personal Modification Institute and is Founder and Director of Fellowship of Recovering Epileptics, a (501)(c)(3) organization, for whom she publishes and edits their flagship newsletter, "The Cornerstone." Your Present Has Power
<cite>Yesterday is a canceled check; tomorrow is a promissory note; today is the only cash you have -- so spend it wisely. - Kay Lyons</cite> The world--your world, my world--is composed of only three time zones: past, present, and future. Focusing your mind exclusively on the past or the future will get you into trouble and render you ineffective while you are in the present.

Curing Neurological Disorders: The Missing Factors
Author's Note: I wrote this article in 2000. The references herein may seem somewhat dated, but I believe most of the information is relatively timeless. I welcome all critique, and I value constructive criticism more tha I do praise. On March 30-31, 2000, the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, held a momentous conference, “Curing Epilepsy: Focus on the Future.” The purpose of the conference was to discuss the prevention and cure of epilepsy in the coming years by implementing new directions based on new technologies and discoveries.

Aging and the Functional Areas of Information Processing and Memory
While recognition of stages involving cognition in the developing child are universal--although much disagreement exists regarding the nature and substance of those stages--the study of cognitive change in adulthood becomes mired in the various definitions and philosophical views proposed by the respective theorists and researchers (Woolf, 1998). Structuralism, for instance, views cognitive change as unidirectional, whereas a life-span developmental theorist views it as multidirectional.

There Is No "I Tried" in Success
Those who say winning is not everything have probably never truly won anything because they do not know the true meaning of success. To recognize success, it is necessary first to define failure. Failure is the refusal either to establish a plan or to work persistently toward its accomplishment, regardless of the challenges. Most of us were never taught that failure is a matter of choice or that success is a matter of choice. Failure is not, as many believe, the result of lack of talent, money, time, or opportunity.

Some Simple Techniques to Assuage Tension From Stress
The normal state of the human mind and body is that of total health and relaxation. This is not the abnormal state. It is healthy. People in their normal state are not constantly operating under tension and anxiety. Chronic (ongoing) stress, which is caused by worry, negative thoughts, and negative emotions, can result in ulcers, arthritis, cancer, and many other diseases that are often otherwise avoidable. It literally causes the body to deteriorate. Disease is a result of stress, not its cause.
