Christmas as a child included many things, mostly it was magic. Of course, this was prior to learning that Santa Claus wasn't the guy in the white beard and red outfit. Rather it was Mom and Dad playing as Santa. I remember the discovery of the real Santa. It was one of those significant moments that one will look at when reviewing major life events. I got through it all right and future Christmas seasons sustained a good level of magic and wonder.

In the BellaSol community class that I teach, I have a regular participant who frequently takes a nap or a quiet respite during various times throughout class. The first time it happened I wondered if she was okay. After talking with her I found out it was simply what she did rather then pushing herself as she had in the past. Big burly bears do it. They know when enough is enough and they rest. In fact most animals will only sustain bursts of energy for short periods followed with long periods of rest.

A friend of mine is completing the seven day yoga intensive. He is staying in a hotel and all is simple and easy in that he is able to eat at the requisite time so that he can do his yoga on an empty stomach. On the last day of the series he learned that in order to receive the benefits of this practice one must practice diligently for 40 days 2 times a day. In addition to this there is a requirement regarding eating prior to doing the exercises. He is committed to doing the 40 days and has a clear motivation for doing so.
