Can Happiness Can Turn-Around a Fowl Mood?
Friday started out great. A few of the ladies in my family came over to decorate and prepare for my neice's wedding shower planned for the next day. nnJust after the ladies went home, it started to rain. The rain turned into a raging thunder storm. My whole neighborhood lost electricity. At first, I wasnât concerned. I called the electric company and the recorded message predicted that Iâd have power in the next three hours. Then, I noticed that the rain had created a lak

Brownie Not for Sale
I broke free from a busy morning to grab a quick lunch at my favorite little sandwich place. While ordering a tasty broccoli cheddar soup and sandwich, I saw them - luscious chocolate brownie wedges displayed on a crisp white dish behind the glass counter. nnI love chocolate too much for my own good, so I made some rules for myself to help limit how much I eat. One of my rules is to eat only the best, most appealing chocolate. These brownie wedges qualified. nnI watched the w

The moment you notice your hostile feelings, you can translate jackal into giraffe. Since giraffes have the largest heart of any land m

Life Balance - What Are You Waiting For?
I sat on a cold cement bench, with paper and pencil in hand. My college assignment: to observe the apes at the Detroit Zoo. I sat in front of an indoor cage that held a massive silver-back gorilla. For fifteen minutes I watched as he sat expressionless on the floor. I couldnât believe he could sit so still and lifeless for so long. Just as I was getting up to leave, something happened thatâs kept this gorilla in my mind since that chilly September day in1980. Lunch arrive

Don't Catch a Bad Mood
Moods can be contagious. Imagine you have a throbbing toothache. You sit down in the dentistâs chair in pain. The dentist enters the room in a cheerful mood. If you catch the dentistâs mood, you relax a bit and he breezes through the procedure. If the dentist catches your mood, what would happen? Heâd wince when you winced. As your knuckles turn white grabbing the arms of the chair, his knuckles turn white grabbing his instruments. As your panic grows, his panic grows.

Comparing Increases Sibling Rivarly
One child takes off his boots at the back door. The other, leaves a trail of muddy water across the kitchen floor. At times like this, it is tempting to compare siblings; âDonna, look at the mess you made! Why canât you be more like your brother? He knows better than to walk through the house with wet boots on.â nn Comparing one child to another increases sibling rivalry, by creating a win/lose relationship. It pits siblings against each other for a sense of self worth.
