If you were to list the most important supplements that we need daily I think it would be safe to say that the one listed least would be iron. Of course, the popular ones are Vitamin A, B, C, D, and E. It seems iron is just an afterthought. I remember when I was a child, I used to eat cold cereal and read the box while eating. At the top it would say something to the effect “fortified with 12 vitamins and iron.” That was the extent of which I remember taking in iron.

Cancer is the greatest cause of death in North America. This fearful and unfortunate reality is the case for millions of people who were exposed to asbestos and who now suffer from asbestos related diseases, one being mesothelial cancer or commonly called mesothelioma. It is a rare type of cancer that is very aggressive. This is a major conce because many millions of people may have unknowingly been exposed to asbestos over the years and now their lives are threatened.

What is Vitamin B for? This is a question that is often asked and understandably so. There are many important vitamins that we need to be taking on a daily basis. This in itself becomes a daunting task trying to remember what they are, which ones to take, and how we benefit by taking them. So I decided to make a little reference guide to the Vitamin B directory, if you will, so that we can come to a quick understanding of what each is and how it can help us. Here is the breakdown: B complex Simply, this vitamin group consists of all eight water-soluble B vitamins.

I sometime sit back and reflect on just how amazing the human body is. Without even thinking what’s going on inside we live like we are on autopilot. It feels good to be healthy and have an active life that is enjoyable. Unfortunately for some there are some aspects of the body, even the smallest ones that seem to malfunction, causing things to be a bit off kilter.

I think my feelings about food are similar to most people; I love food and love to eat. My heart goes out to those who suffer from disorders that cause them to be very selective when it comes to their diet. Specifically, I am talking about those with celiac disease. Celiac disease can easily be called an unsettling disturbance in the digestive system brought on by the body’s inability to digest a common element found in many foods, gluten. Gluten is found in wheat, barley, rye, and oats. That pretty much sums up everything that is delicious to most people.

What is meningitis? It is an uncommon but very serious and frightening viral infection that affects the meninges, the three membranes that lie between the brain and the skull. Meningeal coverings are also found on the spinal cord and can be affected as well. It usually affects newbo s and infants more so than adults. There are two types of meningitis, bacterial and viral. Viral meningitis is the most common and is the milder of the two; usually presented by a headache, bodily discomfort, and diarrhea. It usually runs its course and the symptoms clear up in two to three weeks.

Some of the most delicious "foods" are junk foods. There is something about having some Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos with a nice cold beverage...it's a flavor-fest! After a short time though, you start to realize by the shape of your body that you cannot continue down that road. Your friends may even remind you that you are putting on some weight. I hate when that happens! The pounds keep adding up and before you realize it you are in the worst shape of your life. Sadly, some just can't stop eating these foods that, in reality, are like a ticking time bomb in your body.

It is a challenge living day to day; wondering when we will get sick again. At times we may wish we had a bubble around us because we don’t want to be sick at that inopportune time. Come to think of it, we do have a bubble around us. Well not a literal bubble but certainly a protective barrier nonetheless. And it is an essential part of our immune system which we have a tendency to forget about. What is it? It is our skin.
