I taught for over 15yrs, 12 of those years close to downtow San Antonio. The job was demanding but ultimately rewarding at the days end for the better part of my career. When my children came along that sense of fulfillment that used to help me through the tough times seemed to dwindle every time I had to drop my children off with their caregivers. Like many solopreneurs I chose to leave my career to have more time and flexibility with my family. One of my favorite authors and speaker of all time is Charles Swindoll. I think that his written work inspired me in many ways because of the simple way he uses the best qualities in human beings to make his stories come to life. He also reminds me of my uncle who was an integral part of the forming of my best characteristics. My uncle often uses simple illustrations to make complicated issues less intense and he always had a way of making things easier to understand. To have this influence on others is powerful and to have someone like that on your side is a tremendous asset.

There are a number of factors that contribute to a teacher's burnout but as most teachers know there can be some signs that can be passed off as a "bad year" or personal situations that can temporarily cause the same sort of results, so how does a teacher know the difference? Here are a few signs that former teachers consistently shared that occur more frequently or for more than one school year in a row. 1. You cringe when the school supplies make their first appearance before the last firework even pops for the 4th of July!

“In the beginning, the price of giving great love is risking that it won’t be returned. Until you understand, of course, that great love is always returned. With interest.” – Mike Dooley
