Rebecca Evans is a Decorated and Disabled Gulf War Vet and earned her B.A. in Creative Writing at Boise State University with a minor in Psychology. She is currently a graduate student in Creative Nonfiction Writing at Sierra Nevada College and the Producer and Show Host of Our Voice television show. Her credentials include Poetic Therapy, Certified Empowerment Coach, Motivational Speaker and Author. She has combined her experiences as a woman in the military, mom and world class athlete into her work. Her accomplishments as a business woman have landed her as Idaho Business Review’s “Idaho Women of the Year” honors, the National Association of Women Business Owners Business Women of the Year honors, and Boise State University's “Women Making History in Idaho”. She is a former Girls on the Run program director, Mrs. Idaho International 2004 and a Fitness professional. She lives in Idaho with her three sons, two pugs, Chiweenie, five chickens and an endearing bearded dragon.

In an episode of the Biggest Loser, the contestants were challenged to run a race. The race wasn’t designed to be a simple undertaking. Each participant was required to wear a special belt. Attached to these belts were weights in increments of the amount of weight they each had lost over the past few weeks. Some of the participants ran with 50 or 60 pounds attached to that belt. By the end of the race, the weights were discarded. Those weights were a reminder to the contestants of their earlier lives, how difficult movement, especially running a race had been for them.

Every family is blended. Even when all the members are biologically linked, the addition of any new member requires special attention. And though new additions are mostly exciting times, blending can be an experience rich in mixed emotions, with joy and stress being at the top of the list.
